Very happy to have my BioRich Organic Compost order delivered on site today! Four truck loads of beautiful black gold. I’ve got to get on to tilling the field this week, then this will go on and get worked in too 🙌 ✨

Side note: I had the compost delivered by Craig McCartney from Clive. He’s done a lot of work for me in the past and can’t find a better worker with great prices. He has a bulldozer and truck, comes in super handy for any landscaping work, and he is a qualified builder, so he also built my big 3 bay shed and my deck! If you need anyone local to Napier to do any work, I can put you in touch.

🌸🙌 That’s it! The last of the orders are packed and ready for shipping on Monday to you all. I want to say a HUGE thank you to the flower community for supporting my first full growing season and tuber sales. It really means a lot.

I want to say a special thanks to Kelly at Shangri-La Flora | Sandra & Kelly who really went out of her way to help me figure out packaging and shipping. I can’t thank you enough honestly. I’ll pay it forward 🫶

Thanks to everyone who bought tubers and seeds, or came to PYO last summer, or who stopped to tell me they loved the field, their photos or their workshops – it makes me a little emotional actually now that I’ve just completed fully now, ‘Year One’, and that you have all been so encouraging.

Thanks to all the growers who have offered kind words or support in different ways. Too many of you to count. Just know I know who you are and I appreciate you. What a beautiful group of women and men in this community.

And huge thanks to mum who came just to help me pack tubers!!

Now it’s onto tilling the field, prepping all the extra new rows I’m adding 👀 and sowing loads of lovely seeds! See you all at the field in January 2027!

🌱 Dahlia Pre-Sprout Update
They’ve been under grow lights for around 5 days now, and the ones that were already sprouting have gone mental, and the ones not sprouting at all are now doing amazing with lots of green. Some varieties are quite still, like Burlesca and Small World, but the majority are waking up nicely!

Do I Need to Pre-Sprout?
Nope! You definitely don’t. I’m doing this to take early cuttings to put in the field, which will give them a head start in making flowers a bit earlier in the season. I’m also going to hopefully be selling some rooted cuttings this year, so it’s completely up to you and your situation 🌸

Hi everyone! Final dahlia tuber sale date: Tuesday 22nd September at 7.30pm. I have put the varieties that will be up for sale on the website, all showing as sold out, just so you can see what will be for sale. I do apologise for the confusion in the last sale, where people thought sold out meant everything had gone.

The catalogue is up as sold out just to show you what is available, but on Tuesday 22nd September at 7:30 pm, all of the inventory will be loaded to the website, and you will be able to purchase. Please note that there are limited quantities of certain varieties, and these will likely go fairly quickly. Some I have plenty of, and I have put some good prices on them for you, so if you need to buy bulk, this is a great opportunity.

Thank you so much to everyone who has supported me by buying tubers or seeds. I’m so grateful! Every single purchase is funding the 2027 field, so when you come and visit, you will know that you had a part in this year‘s field 🌸🫶

Back to it today - pre sprouting Ryecroft Jan and others for cuttings using the snaplock bag method. Very useful if you don’t have much space like me (or a greenhouse!).

I got asked a lot of you need to pre-sprout your tubers - and no you don’t at all - only if you want to take cuttings or get your plants started earlier 🌸👌
