The first colors of Spring
The first emergence of seeds through the soil
The joy it can bring!!

Ive planted some vege seeds amongst the citrus in a very concrete feeling workplace...

Thought Id make it into almost like a community garden as theres alot of contractors that come into work here..

Planting some herbs as well.

I also like planting some flowers not only to add a bit of color but also to feed the birds...

Nature is amazing..

I look forward to going here every week to see how my babies are growing!!!

Winter is a time when everything slows down..even the w**ds...

Which makes it a great time for dividing plants and planting.

This bit of space was just stony wasteland really..
I planted it out all with plants I lifted from other gardens and divided..

Even the soil is saved from another garden that was going to get demolished by road works.
Today I lifted a big clump of red hot pokers that haven't flowered since the cyclone and got about 40 plants from the one clump.

And I find a crowbar is one of the best ways to lift big plants and clumps and also to divide them.
It gets in between the roots and allows them to be pulled apart and
untangled naturally rather than slicing with a spade.

Its one of my favorite things..
Recycling and replanting gardens without it costing anything..

Love nature
Love my job

I want to fill this area and repeat plant with natives.
Its a great time in autumn to do planting.
Dividing plants and finding self sown seedlings is a really good option to save money on plants .
And another good time to do it is right before its meant to rain!
Because the soil is so stony and barren Im taking buggy fulls from a pile of soil that I saved when they started digging up the road for the roadworks..
I had to w**d the pile of soil before I could get to it!!!
