SPOTLIGHT on Andy again! Everyone can read how great you are
This week’s Roadworker of the Week is Andy, Operations Manager at James Lux Developments Ltd.
Andy recently joined the team, bringing more than 20 years of experience in civil construction across the Waikato, Bay of Plenty, Coromandel and surrounding regions.
Widely respected for his technical capability and calm, practical leadership style, Andy is highly skilled on machinery. He has a natural ability to diagnose issues and solve problems quickly, helping to reduce downtime and keep crews moving safely and efficiently. As a quick thinker and reliable problem solver, Andy is someone people trust to get things done well under pressure.
He is also known for his straight‑up, no‑nonsense approach. Andy is supportive and loyal, consistently backing his crews while setting clear expectations around quality and safety. He does not compromise on standards or tolerate unsafe behaviour, and this balance has earned him strong respect across teams. His presence lifts morale and helps create a positive, professional work environment where people feel valued.
Developing people is a key part of Andy’s leadership. He takes pride in training staff, sharing his knowledge, and supporting newer workers to build confidence in their roles. His people‑first approach is grounded and practical, and he has already made a positive impact since stepping into his new role.
Safety sits at the centre of everything Andy does. He leads by example, communicates clearly, and ensures sites are well planned and operating to a high standard. His strong focus on safe work practices has made him a trusted leader within the company.
Outside of work, Andy enjoys spending time outdoors and with his family, which helps keep him grounded alongside the fast pace of operations.
Thank you, Andy, for the work you do. When you’re travelling through roadwork sites, slow down, take care, follow any instructions from signs or crew members, and travel safely.
