🌶️ Have you made Fire Cider before?

I just strained a batch that's been brewing away and it's ready to enjoy! 🍎🍯🌿

Fire Cider is a traditional herbal tonic made with ingredients like garlic, onion, ginger, chillies, citrus and apple cider vinegar. Every batch is a little different depending on what's growing in your garden and what flavours you enjoy.

Want to learn how to make your own?

Join us at our monthly herb workshops this Thursday:

🌿 9am – Kaitaia Community Garden
🌿 4pm – Taipa Community Garden

Bring a jar and any ingredients you'd like to add. Think garlic, onions, lemons, ginger, turmeric, chillies, herbs and more.

We'll make a batch together, share ideas and enjoy a cup of herbal tea.

Have you made Fire Cider before? What's your favourite ingredient to add?

First mahi in my new rongoā room!

Today Kora and I had so much fun making magnesium spray, dancing around, making memories, and putting this beautiful new space to use.

Having a dedicated room for creating rongoā feels like such a gift. No more balancing everything on the kitchen table! Just space to create, learn, and share what I love.

This magnesium spray is one of my favourite products to make — simple, effective, and made with care right here in Kaingaroa.

What do you think of the new rongoā room?

Over the last few months I've made some changes to my work hours.

For a long time I was saying yes to lots of amazing opportunities, projects, workshops, and community mahi. While I loved it all, somewhere along the way I realised I had spread myself a little too thin.

One of the reasons we chose this lifestyle in Kaingaroa was to have more time with our tamariki, more time in the garden, more time creating, and more time simply being at home.

So I've scaled back some of my hours and am spending more time focusing on Kaingaroa Plant Lady, homeschooling, creating rongoā, growing herbs, and enjoying the life we've worked so hard to build.

Already I'm noticing the difference. More creativity. More energy. More presence. More joy.

Today I made magnesium spray in my new rongoā room with Kora and Reef helping beside me, music playing, and plenty of dancing. It reminded me exactly why we chose this path.

Sometimes growth isn't about doing more.

Sometimes it's about creating space for what matters most.

Kaitaia Cacao Circle & Breathing Journey with Kath & Matt Wright

Join us for a nourishing evening of connection, cacao, conscious breathwork and guided meditation.

This gentle yet powerful experience is an opportunity to slow down, step away from the busyness of daily life, and reconnect with yourself in a supportive and welcoming space.

We will begin by sharing ceremonial cacao, a heart-opening plant medicine traditionally used to encourage presence, reflection and connection. From there, Matt will guide a conscious breathing journey designed to help release tension, quiet the mind and bring you into deeper awareness of your body and breath.

The evening will conclude with a guided meditation and time for integration.

No previous experience is necessary. Whether you are new to breathwork and cacao or have attended many circles before, you are warmly welcome.

What to bring:
• A yoga mat or something comfortable to lie on
• A blanket and pillow for warmth and comfort
• A water bottle
• A journal if you wish

When: Monday 29 June 2026, 6:00pm – 9:00pm
Where: Te Hiku Rongoā Māori Collective, 155 Commerce Street, Kaitaia
Exchange: Koha – give what feels right

Come as you are and leave feeling more grounded, connected and restored.

Mauri Hā – creating space to breathe, connect and remember what matters.

Well we're home again after a wonderful week in Hawke's Bay

It was a week full of special moments – celebrating Mum's 70th birthday, attending my cousin's beautiful wedding, photographing Granny's Treasures, a tour of Setha's Seed garden, catching up with whānau, and finishing it all off with a beautiful cacao ceremony in Onga Onga.

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us for the ceremony. It was such a lovely afternoon of connection, cacao, breath and community.

Now it's time to unpack, catch up on orders, and get back into the rhythm of life in the Far North.

For those who missed us in Hawke's Bay, we'll be holding a cacao ceremony in Kaitaia on Monday 29th June. Details will be released soon, so keep an eye on the page if you'd like to join us.

It's good to be home, and we're looking forward to seeing you all again soon.

So... Bronwyn tried both of my cacao mini sample blocks and I think it's safe to say she loves it

🍫 Phoenix Cacao "So so good, perfect amount of heat and chocolatey goodness."

🍫 100% Cacao Paste "Best cacao I've had, rich n creamy, so good I've bought the big block, officially addicted."

I absolutely love hearing when people love our cacao as much as we do

Fair warning though... sample blocks have a habit of turning into big block orders

Thank you Bronwyn for taking the time to leave these reviews

Having a lovely week in Hawke's Bay with whānau.

We've celebrated Mum's 70th birthday, attended my cousin's wedding, photographed Granny's Treasures, explored some beautiful bush walks, and today I'm sharing cacao at a ceremony before heading home tomorrow.

Feeling very grateful for the memories, the laughter, and the time together.
