1. **Inspect and Insulate**: Check exposed pipes in unheated areas of your home, such as basements or ceilings, and insulate them to prevent freezing.

2. **Building temperatures**: Keep windows and doors closed, particularly overnight or if away to prevent inside temperature dropping to outside temperature which could harm you're plumbing.

3. **Know the Signs**: Look out for signs of frozen pipes, such as little or no water flow from faucets, and be prepared to act quickly by calling a professional if you suspect a freeze.
