If you haven’t seen the tractor rolling around town, don’t worry — we haven’t disappeared!
We’ve just been away on an educational holiday in Nelson for the FCANZ ( FCANZ - Fencing Contractors New Zealand ) Conference — and boy, was it a trip!
We packed a fair bit into the three days, with plenty of learning, catching up with others in the fencing industry, and a few good laughs along the way.
Wednesday – National Fencing Field Day
We kicked things off with the National Fencing Field Day, with partners and industry reps there to show off their gear, products and knowledge.
The school fencing teams also put on a great show for us, showcasing their skills and giving us plenty to watch.
There was also a really interesting demonstration looking at the breaking points of stays — definitely something to take away and think about when we're back on the tools!
Thursday – AGM, training & a bit of everything
Thursday started with the FCANZ AGM before heading into some community awareness training with MATES in Construction New Zealand .
We then got the chance to have a tour around Macs Hops Farm, which was a bloody interesting look at something a bit different from our usual day-to-day work.
The evening finished up with a bingo night and silent auction, with all proceeds going towards Lean On A Gate. A great cause and a good night had by all.
Friday – French Pass & Awards Night
Friday saw everyone pile into the convoy for a trip out to French Pass. What an awesome part of the country to see with a good bunch of people.
Then it was back for the gala dinner and awards, which was a bloody good way to finish off the conference. A great night with plenty of laughs, good company and some well-deserved recognition across the industry.
A massive thank you to FCANZ for putting together such a great conference and for all the effort that goes into making something like this happen. It was awesome to get away, learn a few things, catch up with familiar faces and meet plenty of new ones.
Now it’s back home, back to the tractor, and back to the West Coast!
Cheers to everyone involved — see you out on the fences!
