Precast with a Purpose 🚒
We recently donated precast slabs to the Hastings Fire Station to help construct a new training pad.
A big thanks to firefighter Malcolm McQuade for sharing photos from a recent training exercise, and to Greg and Ugo for expertly placing the slabs.
We're proud to support our local fire brigade and contribute to the wider Hawke's Bay community.

Project: Meeanee Bridge - Hollow Core Beams

A significant milestone achieved this week with the first hollow core beams departing the yard for the new Meeanee Road Bridge project.

In total, 32 beams, weighing between 18 and 28 tonnes, have been prestressed on our purpose-built prestressing bed and are now being delivered under night closures of the expressway to support installation.

Projects like this don't happen without a dedicated team. From design coordination and manufacturing through to stressing, logistics, and delivery, this achievement reflects a tremendous collective effort.

We're proud to be contributing to infrastructure that will benefit our community for years to come.

🌱 Happy September 1st! 🌱

Today marks the beginning of Foundational Mental Health Awareness Month.

Together, our Hastings team took time out to connect over smoko and learn about our newly launched TELUS Health EAP, which provides confidential wellbeing support for our staff and their families.

A huge thanks to the Mates4Life team for the incredible food, the insightful mental health stats they shared within New Zealand and the Hawke’s Bay community. And for running the team through an exercise proving just how coordinated they really are 😊

It was a great reminder of the importance of looking after ourselves and each other and a positive step forward in strengthening wellbeing across our workplace.

Project: 90 Fryer Road, Poraiti, Napier

Shout out to Schalk on successfully delivering his first project, guided by Project Manager Arie. The crew installed a precast retaining wall shaped to the site’s contours to support a new pool area being installed. A pleasure partnering with Verde on this one.

Friday was a chance to pause and celebrate two milestones that reflect the depth of capability across Lattey Group.

After six months of committed work, our teams have completed the Taradale Road / Herrick Street culvert project — a standout example of Civil and Hastings Precast working as one.
We also acknowledged the Tokaanu Bored Pile Tower Foundation project, where our civil crews have been delivering specialised work near Tūrangi for seven months.

These projects show what can be achieved when expertise, teamwork, and determination come together.

Project: Tokaanu Bored Pile and Foundation Strengthening

Our civil crew lead by Cody Knox is doing a awesome job working under some challenges conditions including height restrictions due to the existing live power lines and between the two towers.

We would like to thank our client Ventia for trusting us to get the foundation down so the wider community can get increased power capacity for the future.

Last week our team swapped tools and keyboards, joining other Irongate businesses to plant over 1,700 native plants along the Irongate Stream. At Lattey Group, we take seriously our role in caring for the environment we work in and it’s inspiring to see what can be achieved when local businesses get behind a shared goal.

Great to work alongside our fellow founding members of the Irongate Collective HB Homes & Commercial, Tumu Group, TimberSpan, The Evergreen Foundation, and huge thanks to Rachel and the Karamu River Catchments Collective for coordinating such a meaningful initiative.

The Irongate Collective is a new industry led environmental stewardship initiative bringing businesses together to invest in the health of Te Karamū and its tributaries. This is more than a one off planting project. We are building a long term partnership on shared responsibility, where businesses combine their resources, skills and networks to create lasting environmental outcomes. Because when we work together, we can achieve more than any one organisation can alone. The first project begins at the Irongate Stream, but the vision extends much further.
