It’s the small things 🌺

A walk around the neighbourhood at this time of year is a reminder of just how beautiful spring can be. Flowering trees, colour everywhere and petals scattered along the footpaths.

Sometimes the best landscapes are the ones we walk past every day.

Just another photo of a tree. I could probably take one every day and post it, although I’m sure that role is already being capably filled by plenty of others - and that’s fair.

Some gardens tell you everything about a person.

Today I spent the afternoon wandering through one in Hamilton, built slowly over many years by a lovely client named Pam. Every path, every plant, every corner had a story. My role was simple—offer a few ideas for the spaces ready for a new chapter, where fresh planting could sit comfortably alongside what was already there.

The weather turned it on for us, and there are worse ways to spend an afternoon than talking plants with someone who genuinely loves their garden.

Some places don’t need much.

A few clean lines. A pool pointed at the horizon. Enough planting to soften the edges without competing with the view.

The Waikato does the heavy lifting here — rolling hills, changing light….

Our job was knowing when to stop.
