No jokes today.
WorkSafe has shared the story of a devastating seven-metre fall. A roofer fell through a clear roofing panel and fractured multiple vertebrae in his spine. The fragile roofing hadn’t been identified or controlled before the job started. He was new, and his work at height training had been put off until after his 90-day trial, even though he was already up on roofs.
“Good health and safety starts before anyone sets foot on a roof”
Before your crew goes up, identify the hazards, get the right fall controls in place, and make sure everyone’s trained, especially the new starters. Plan the work, protect the worker.
