A little honesty from behind the scenes 💚🌿
I’ve been sitting on this post for a while because, honestly, I haven’t really known how to put everything into words.
Behind the scenes, the last few months have been incredibly difficult for me personally and, unfortunately, that has had an impact on my business.
As some of you know, I’ve had to step away from work for several months on stress leave through ACC while dealing with some significant personal challenges, including grief, ongoing health issues and pain, appointments, surgeries, and working through some historical trauma that I’ve carried for a very long time.
It’s been a lot, and I want to be honest about how that has affected Dandelion Lane Landscaping.
Something that can sometimes be easy to forget is that Dandelion Lane Landscaping is essentially a one-person business. 🌿
There isn’t a big team behind the scenes. It’s me.
Every quote, message, phone call, booking, trip to a job, gardening job, paperwork, invoice, planning, purchasing and travelling is generally all handled by one person.
Every now and then, I’m lucky enough to get a little help from my children ot a local when they’re not at school and aren’t working themselves, and I’m incredibly grateful for that help. ❤️
So while Dandelion Lane may look like a business from the outside, behind it is really just one person trying to keep everything moving.
Over the past few months, there have been times where I haven’t communicated as well as I should have. There have been delays with replies, quotes and jobs, occasions where I haven’t been able to make it to a job when planned, and times where travel and overlapping jobs have made things difficult.
For that, I am genuinely sorry.
To anyone who has been waiting for a reply or quote, had a job delayed, or has unfortunately decided they could no longer wait and has gone in another direction — I completely understand.
I’m sorry we couldn’t make it work.
We would have genuinely loved to have worked with every single one of you, and we’re incredibly grateful that you considered supporting our little business in the first place. 💚
But I also want to take a moment to say something incredibly important.
To the customers who have stayed.
To the people who have been patient.
To those who have checked in on me.
To the people who have said, “Don’t worry, take your time.”
To everyone who has continued to support Dandelion Lane Landscaping, trusted us with your gardens, recommended us to others and continued to believe in what we do...
Thank you. Truly.
You probably don’t realise how much that has meant to me during a time when I’ve struggled to believe in myself.
Every job, every message, every recommendation and every bit of patience and understanding has meant more than you probably know.
I started this business because I genuinely love creating beautiful spaces, working with plants, getting my hands dirty, seeing something transform from an idea into something people can enjoy and to show that anything can grow from feeling like nothing to everything with the right love and care.
That part of me hasn’t disappeared.
I’m simply learning how to look after the person behind the business as well.
As we move forward, we’re working on finding a healthier and more sustainable way to run Dandelion Lane Landscaping. That may mean I’m not always the fastest at replying, and I may need a little more patience than I used to, but I am committed to continuing to provide the best service I can.
We care.
We care enormously.
And we are incredibly grateful for every person who has supported us — whether you’ve been a customer from day one, someone who has recently found our business, someone who has recommended us, or simply someone who has sent a kind message when it was needed most.
And finally, to my family — thank you.
Thank you for putting up with the hard days, the emotional days and the days where I’ve had nothing left in the tank. Thank you for continuing to support me while I work through this chapter.
And to my children, who have even jumped in and helped Mum with the business when they’ve had the time — thank you. You’re a bigger part of this little business than you probably realise. ❤️
This isn't a goodbye to Dandelion Lane.
It’s simply me being honest about the fact that sometimes the person running the business needs some care too.
We’re still here.
We’re still trying.
We’re still growing. 🌱
And we’re incredibly grateful to have such amazing customers, family and supporters around us.
Thank you for your patience, your understanding and for sticking with us.
With love and appreciation,
Dandelion Lane Landscaping 🌿💚
