Our Welding & Fabrication team is currently working on the fabrication/ manufacture of 6 melter mantle quadrants, carrying out extensive exotic welding processes across the component.

Projects like this require more than simply welding. Our team needs to consider the existing condition of the component, bracing/ strong backs for distortion control, dissimilar metals, access, weld quality and maintaining the integrity of a large, complex structure consisting of very high-grade stainless materials.

By manufacturing, repairing, and refurbishing critical components, IMG can help customers extend equipment service life, provide inventory for breakdowns, and keep important assets operating.

We’re proud to congratulate Sam Grinder on his recent internal promotion to Machine Shop Leading Hand at our East Tamaki branch.

Sam started with IMG almost 13 years ago as an apprentice and has worked in our Machine Shop ever since, building his skills, knowledge and experience along the way.

It’s great to see one of our own progressing through the business and stepping into a new leadership role. We’re looking forward to seeing Sam take on this next chapter with the team.

This JCB Telehandler recently arrived at IMG for a full diagnostic assessment and service inspection.

Our team identified key hydraulic and component repair requirements and provided the client with a clear, detailed report outlining the machine’s condition and recommended repair options. The estimating team is now preparing pricing so the client can make an informed decision on the best repair pathway.

At IMG, we take on a new intake of apprentices each year and pride ourselves on delivering a strong, hands-on development programme.

Our apprentices have the opportunity to focus on a specialty while also gaining experience across multiple areas of the business. This includes hydraulics, welding and fabrication, machining, and heavy diesel. This approach ensures they complete their apprenticeship with a well-rounded skill set and are fully prepared for the workforce.

Recently, the team from Apprentice Training New Zealand visited site and captured some great shots of our apprentices (and Lvl 5's) in action. It is great to see them learning, developing and contributing to real work every day.
