This kowhai is always early and the bellbirds really enjoy that winter feed. I think it is a North Island one but was here when we arrived over 30 years ago. The photo was taken on a cloudy day so you can see how brightly coloured it is with lots of flowers.

Shifting the pets to the pet paddock via the garden can be a bit dodgy. Lucky they know the routine pretty well.

This little fantail followed me in the garden landing on all the dead shoots and on the ground at my feet. Have had 8 around me in the past but none actually landing on my hand. Lovely company in the garden.
