Every homeowner has a different lifestyle, vision and wish list. Every site also brings its own opportunities. That’s why no two SAN projects are ever the same. From the way sunlight moves through the rooms to how your family lives day to day, every detail is carefully considered. The result is a home designed specifically for you, your site and the way you want to live.

Because the best homes aren’t copied - they’re thoughtfully created.

Meet Aaron, the founder and creative mind behind SAN Architecture.

Aaron is an ADNZ Registered Architectural Designer with more than 25 years of experience across residential, commercial, retail, industrial, education and healthcare projects.

Since founding SAN Architecture in Christchurch in 2019, Aaron has focused on creating practical, well-considered designs that reflect each client’s vision, budget and needs. For him, great architecture is about more than how a space looks - it’s about collaboration, clear communication and creating solutions that work.

Whether taking a project from feasibility through to consent or supporting it throughout construction, Aaron works closely with clients, builders and consultants to keep the process as simple and seamless as possible.

Good design considers more than how a home looks, it also considers how it feels throughout the day and across every season. By carefully planning the home’s orientation, window placement and shading, we can make better use of natural sunlight, improve year-round comfort and reduce the need for heating and cooling. It is one of the earliest design decisions, but it can make a lasting difference to how your home performs.

Commercial projects work best when the architect and builder work together from the start. Collaboration helps reduce delays, improve communication, and create better outcomes onsite.

At SAN Architecture, collaboration is always our number one priority. By working closely with builders, clients and consultants from day one, we help keep every stage clear, coordinated and moving in the right direction.

Finding the right name for the business wasn’t easy. I knew I didn’t want to use my own name, and although I explored plenty of architectural terms, none felt quite right - they would have needed explaining every time.

That led me to something far more personal. SAN stands for "Sovarne And Noah", my two children at the time the business was founded. It gave the name genuine meaning while keeping it simple, memorable and unique.

From there, I worked with a talented artist friend to bring the brand to life. I wanted something with more personality than a traditional black-and-white architectural logo - and he absolutely smashed it.

The result, for me, is a distinctive, creative brand with a meaningful story behind it.

Commercial projects involve complex compliance requirements, consultant coordination, and detailed documentation. Having an experienced architectural designer involved helps streamline the process, keep everyone aligned, and reduce the risk of costly mistakes during construction. That’s where SAN Architecture can help.
