Vogel Fencing is on the hunt for our next team member. Established around town for over 35 years, we have a reputation for delivering a high standard of work in a timely manner. We are after someone experienced or has a solid knowledge to build on already. Somewhere nearing the foreman position but ultimately, still hands on with the grafting. This role comes with some big hours and working in all weathers when required.
Key attributes were after
-Common sense
-Ability to show up to the yard on time
-Have a good sense of communication & respect the companies gear
-Full license and ability to drive Manual vehicles
-Ability to back a trailer confidently in tight spots
-Experience with Power tools, Chainsaws, Excavators
-Would be nice to have someone reasonably skilled in laying out a multi unit development/Residential homes from a plan.
Full disclosure, this isn't a 8-4 gig. We want someone who can find enjoyment in persevering through the hard tasks and gets satisfaction from it. Digging holes are mandatory & carrying heavy loads is a daily task, if you don't like doing it, this position isnt for you. Owner works on the tools daily with the lads so understands what the job requires and is there doing it alongside

Making the most of a miserable wet day. Parked up in a garage onsite and we clad 35 gates up ready for installation tomorrow. Hinges on, holes cut, trimmed to size before loaded back onto the trailer. Got to give credit to Ken McDonald here, hes meant to be semi retired but still produces these frames for us with impeccable quality.

Tucked down the back of the industrial park, a big upgrade in terms of security for these tenants. 2.05m finished timber fence height with another 300mm of Barbed wire across the top. Im not a wire guy, but it came up rather well I think. Steel 75x75 Galv posts set 1.4m in the ground at 1.85m centers just leaves the end product you can happily hand over knowing its locked in

While we do love a 1.8 Standard paling fence & Steel frame gates on mass, Heres a few bespoke projects we have completed over the last few weeks

Harvey Terrace- 1.8 Spaced Dressed Picket Fence with a manual sliding gate.

Lovely project here from removing the existing fence & Vegetation to matching the character of the house. Small retaining wall at the base to keep the fence level from left to right while also keeping the raised soil levels out of the sliding gate track. Client followed along afterwards and painted it that classic white to blend everything in and did a great job in presenting the final product

Jervios Street- North New Brighton

A longstanding project manager of ours got us in to build this engineered spec retaining wall at his personal house. 175mm SED poles with a embedded diameter of 1100mmx450mm with organized backfill of membrane Cloth, drainage chip, Nova Coil & Styrodrain all handled in house. With the wall all passing inspection with ease, the deck will now be run through the wall and backfilling of the section will now commence.

A welcome change for the lads this week, we left behind the city landscape and took up residence in Southern Canterbury. Monday had us finishing off Thursdays effort of completing 10 lots for Mike Greer Homes in West Melton. 20 of our steel framed gates and a few dress Palings rounded off our stint in Tewhaiawa.

On Tuesday we headed off to River Road behind Lincoln to take on a fairly large scale project. Just over 160 lineal meters of 1.8m Paling (12mm & 19mm) and 200x50 retaining beneath it all. 300x300 Macrocarpa posts freshly milled from Macrocarpa Supplies is the focal point of the entranceway with some custom macro gates and automation to follow over the next few weeks as they become ready for install. We took a little bit of extra time here making sure we looked after the clients grounds with all the rain we had and left the property and the fencing in a condition I was extremely proud of the guys for doing.

Heading onto our next Subdivision this coming week to start the first stage with the sun hopefully hanging round a bit longer

Howdy everyone

For the business owners that follow the page, who are they using for the marketing companies? We currently have one that we arent seeing much direct results from anymore and doesn't seem to put customer service on the priority list. So, we are looking at new options out there. Our current provider organizes our Search engine optimizations, google ads & hosts our website. Would like to start pushing social media more as that's a direction the market is going in as well.

If you had any recommendations, please drop the names below or let me know via messenger or text, 0278236761. Like many small businesses, we dont tend to spend huge amounts on advertising as we are normally flat out but our enquiry lead to cost ratio needs to make sense

Another week of winter for the lads pushing through

7 Mike Greer Homes lots completed across Halswell and Casebrook while making a start on our next 10 lots in West melton with prebuilding our gate frames.

2 projects wrapped up in Mcgregors Road. Haven't taken any shots of the client next door yet (need to drill 2 dropbolt holes) but we wrapped up Bushnell builders site for Kainga Ora next door. Bit of a different design by the architect but we build what were told to and get on with it.

Started a small retaining wall project, waiting engineers inspection on the holes before the mixers get to work filling them in

85m new development block in Hay Road. Posted by lunch the first day and finished by 11am the next.

50m one day build today up in Hindess Street Halswell.

Maxwell street Riccarton- 50 odd metres of 1.8 capped paling. Quite special as Paul originally built the clients last fence 25 odd years ago

Glandovey Road
100m of 2m hugh, retained, capped with thicker 19mm Palings for negative chunky detail. Young Izzy put through just over 4 odd cube in an afternoon to get the project completed in just 2 days for our longstanding clients personal house.

Haast Street- Private client

Bit of a change to our normal installs. Small retaining wall and aluminum fence for this elevated property in Linwood. Little details of beveled edges and premarked screw lines keep everything tight. With a couple of paling fences around the units as well to round everything off, came up quite tidily

Another busy week for the team.

Monday-Quick 40m one day build on Monday for a referral client from the neighbouring fence

Tuesday- 4 Houses completed for Mike Greer Homes in Podocarp Drive, Halswell. The other 3 lads put posts in at 5 lots across Halswell & West Melton ready for Concrete to be poured

Wednesday- Started another set of Social housing units for Bushnell Builders working alongside DiggersNZ. They removed the gnarly side of the boundary fencing while we took care of the limited access side. 55m of fence removed by us and 120m of Posts installed in a day

Thursday- Installing the internal based fencing posts to height & Layout. Bit of thinking with the corners

Friday- Finish off the 120m of Boundaries in a day with the full amount being retained.

Saturday- Little tidy up day. Installed the final lot of fencing for Consortium Construction Ltd down at Colwyn Ave. Custom fabricated Steel fencing from Lewis Metalworks to match the existing fencing completed many years ago on the original retirement home. Installed some vertical rails for upcoming trellis and a couple of internal posts for a pour on Monday for Mike Greer Homes
