Another busy fortnight around town

A quick 85m for Mike Greer Homes in the old stomping ground of Spring Grove for 2 days with the building of the 4 internal fences at the same time. Layout was key here with establishing boundary positions without surveyed pegs in place.

Quick one day build for Bishopdale school under the Bushnell Builders banner. Removal of the existing and replacement 24m of 2m high Timber Paling Fence. Onsite at 745am, leaving by 2pm. Minimal disruption for the onsite holiday programme

Finished off the Gates out at West Melton for our Batten Fence build. Came up a treat in Powder coated Black.

Replaced a Macrocarpa feature post that managed to stay true and plumb even with a 14T truck & digger accidentally hitting it. Makes for great firewood......

Ended last week by having a day of posting at Mike Greer Homes lots in Preston's Grove followed by a day of building 4 lots.

Started this week with a 2 day, 90m build in Trafalgar street for a long time client. Both days we managed to squeeze in some posting of other jobs to fill out the day.

Started a job for Hopman motors in the local neighbourhood. Front fence with a sliding gate. Poured the footer this week so will install the gate later this week hopefully.

Small run of 15m on a Cashmere project we were on a few months ago for Summitbuild. The build is practically finished with landscaping taking the final phases.

And Lastly, a 50% permable set of Fences for Mike Greer Homes in Prestons, by this stage the sickness had set in and that was enough. Gates will be completed sometime shortly with us well ahead of schedule

Just like the weather, little bit of everything this week.

Handled another 190m out in our Leeston Subdivison in 3 days. Had to remove 37m of existing fence line to reinstate with new Boundaries with some more inter tenacy lines.

Tuesday saw myself on Gate duty it seemed. 2 gates completing Oxford Propertys latest venture on Coronation & 2 Gates at our Tui street Project finishing both of these projects off. 5 Gates at 2 different Mike Greer Homes Sites settled another 2 off our list.

Friday had a nice little 40m of 1.8 Clear Grade Batton Fencing at Te Whaiawa's original homestead for Mike Greer Homes and holdings. Heading back this week to finish the 2 gates off so just a snippet of what's one of the nicest fences we do. Steel Posts, 2m spacings, Dressed Clear grade Battons retrimmed to final dimension, Hand selected Rail stock, Powder coated frames to match and 1750 Bugle Screws predrilled to perfection.

Ended up working Saturday morning with Malcom, quick posting run up in Prestons for Concrete to carry on. Followed up by a reshuffle and clean up of our yard. Amazing how much work is produced from such a small base

Extremely fortunate to have Malcom, Izzy and our super sub call in John Donnelly the week prior alongside me over the last few weeks. The team has clocked in some huge installs across a range of sites totaling over 450m.

-204 Riccarton Road- 170m of 2m High New fencing & removal of the existing onsite Crampton & Smith Builders
-302 Halswell Road- 50m of 2m High fencing & removal
-25 Arran Crescent- 50m of 1.8m High Timber Paling Fence & removal
-Sunline Crescent/Craig Thompson Lincoln- Final Gate Installed on our 1.8 Smart Wall Fence completed late last month
-25 Waituna Street- 1.2 aluminum Front Fence for an existing clients rental property
-Meadowstream Street- 1.8 Dressed Picket & 2 Steel gates for Mike Greer Homes latest show home
-Johns Park Estate- 115m of 1.8 Timber High Fence for Mike Greer Homes in a block of new houses.
-Nayland Street- 24m 1.8 High Timber Paling Fence & removal
-Coronation Street for Oxford Property- Completed the fencing aspect but just waiting on our 2 final gates to be made and then installed
Montreal Street- 10m of 1.8 Plywood Hoarding for &M Builders

Also while installing 4 lots of Internal Posts across Prebbleton, Burwood, Prestons for upcoming projects.

Alot of hard work and determination to persevere with tight deadlines and a high standard of workmanship.

Absolute cracking day by the men

50m of existing fencing removed and posted by 12pm. Followed by a huge effort of another 180m of fence removed and loaded into a hook bin this afternoon. Exceptional service from Frews contracting at short notice, bit of Jenga but it all fit bar one small truckload!

Back on the hunt again team.

Vogel Fencing is on the hunt for our next team member. Established around town for over 35 years, we have a reputation for delivering a high standard of work in a timely manner. We are after someone experienced or has a solid knowledge to build on already. Somewhere nearing the foreman position but ultimately, still hands on with the grafting. This role comes with some big hours and working in all weathers when required.

Key attributes were after
-Common sense
-Ability to show up to the yard on time
-Have a good sense of communication & respect the companies gear
-Full license and ability to drive Manual vehicles
-Ability to back a trailer confidently in tight spots
-Experience with Power tools, Chainsaws, Excavators
-Would be nice to have someone reasonably skilled in laying out a multi unit development/Residential homes from a plan.

Full disclosure, this isn't a 8-4 gig. We want someone who can find enjoyment in persevering through the hard tasks and gets satisfaction from it. Digging holes are mandatory & carrying heavy loads is a daily task, if you don't like doing it, this position isn't for you. Owner works on the tools daily with the lads so understands what the job requires and is there doing it alongside

Making the most of a miserable wet day. Parked up in a garage onsite and we clad 35 gates up ready for installation tomorrow. Hinges on, holes cut, trimmed to size before loaded back onto the trailer. Got to give credit to Ken McDonald here, hes meant to be semi retired but still produces these frames for us with impeccable quality.

Tucked down the back of the industrial park, a big upgrade in terms of security for these tenants. 2.05m finished timber fence height with another 300mm of Barbed wire across the top. Im not a wire guy, but it came up rather well I think. Steel 75x75 Galv posts set 1.4m in the ground at 1.85m centers just leaves the end product you can happily hand over knowing its locked in

While we do love a 1.8 Standard paling fence & Steel frame gates on mass, Heres a few bespoke projects we have completed over the last few weeks

Harvey Terrace- 1.8 Spaced Dressed Picket Fence with a manual sliding gate.

Lovely project here from removing the existing fence & Vegetation to matching the character of the house. Small retaining wall at the base to keep the fence level from left to right while also keeping the raised soil levels out of the sliding gate track. Client followed along afterwards and painted it that classic white to blend everything in and did a great job in presenting the final product

Jervios Street- North New Brighton

A longstanding project manager of ours got us in to build this engineered spec retaining wall at his personal house. 175mm SED poles with a embedded diameter of 1100mmx450mm with organized backfill of membrane Cloth, drainage chip, Nova Coil & Styrodrain all handled in house. With the wall all passing inspection with ease, the deck will now be run through the wall and backfilling of the section will now commence.
