Design + Build | Arther Smith | Site update

We're inching ever closer to completion! The task list is now short, with the final builder's and plumber's fit-off work underway.

The tiling and wallpaper selections are standout features, adding personality and character throughout the home.

Carpet installation is scheduled for next week, while work has also commenced on the exterior decking.

With handover planned for mid next month, we look forward to showcasing this completed bespoke Design + Build home.

We recently had the pleasure of sitting down with Matt and Julia to hear their story, designing and building a bespoke home in Cashmere Estate with R&B Build.

For this young family, function and form were both non-negotiable. The result is a split level home spanning just over 250m², shaped entirely around clients who knew exactly what they wanted from day one.

Cashmere Estate Hillside Design + Build | Kitchen

The vision for this kitchen was to create a space where the homeowners could come together to cook and spend time as a family, doing what they love.

Designed as the hub of the home, the kitchen connects seamlessly with the surrounding living spaces, encouraging both everyday interaction and effortless entertaining. The scullery provides practicality while remaining discreetly concealed from view.

The carefully selected materials and colour palette, including a striking brick feature wall, bring elements of the exterior indoors, while the inclusion of green highlights the homeowners' personality and style.

We collaborated with the team at to bring this kitchen to life.

Project Highlight | Kennedys Bush Residence

Perched on a steep hillside, this thoughtfully designed home embraces its surroundings with sweeping views across the city to the Southern Alps.

Designed by RBA Studio and built by R+B Build, the home was carefully crafted to support family living, balancing connection, privacy, and flexible spaces for entertaining. A simple monopitch roofline, natural timber cladding, and an earthy material palette allow the home to sit comfortably within the landscape.

Designed with family living in mind, the split-level layout provides a thoughtful separation between the children's wing and the parents' private master suite, creating spaces that support both togetherness and retreat. The interior design reflects soft, neutral tones, brought to life by an abundance of natural light. Attention to detail is evident in the carefully selected fittings and fixtures throughout the home.

Partially sheltered outdoor living areas create a seamless connection to the outdoors, offering year-round enjoyment and a sense of being immersed in the surrounding environment. The result is a home that responds beautifully to both its site and the lifestyle of its owners.

Cashmere Estate Hillside Design + Build | Exterior Features

Spanning just over 250m², this bespoke two-storey Design + Build home in Cashmere Estate has been carefully designed to sit comfortably within the hillside.

A combination of brick, cedar, and metal tray cladding, paired with a monopitch roofline, creates a striking yet elegant exterior aesthetic.

Thoughtfully positioned to capture views of the reserve while providing shelter from prevailing winds, the home offers several outdoor areas for dining, entertaining, or simply enjoying the late afternoon sun.

Design + Build | Hoon Hay | Site update

During our site visit this week, we could see that the exterior cladding is nearing completion. The selected colour palette and materials work seamlessly together, creating a striking visual aesthetic.

Both dwellings now have GIB installation complete, with plastering also finished in one of the two homes.

The next stages will see interior painting commence at the end of the month, followed by kitchen installation next month.

With the finishing touches beginning to take shape, these homes are progressing nicely towards completion in early August.
