We’re incredibly proud to announce the we have won a gold award and taken out the multi unit category win along with a silver award in the renovation 1m-2m category at the Canterbury house of the year awards on Friday.

🛠️ Beginning, Middle and End 🛠️

LOC's talents don't only lie in new builds. Here is an extension and renovation property that displays LOC's skills through adding onto and enhancing pre-existing homes.

The owners of this gorgeous property purchased the original home to renovate it to work for their family. The alteration added an extra 160m2 to the home, while renovating the existing home to change the layout completely! The work done included; a new garage, entranceway, kitchen and open plan living.

The result was a stunning transformation that the owners loved! 🥰

✨ Kate Sheppard House ✨

At LOC, we have been lucky to work on some special builds and rennovations over the years, however this one sticks out as being quite exceptional to be involved in.

Back in 2020, we were honoured to renovate Kate Sheppard House. This project included an interior refurbishment as well as exterior patios and decking. Built around 1888, the house was the home of the one and only Kate Sheppard during the suffragist movement. It was here that Kate put together three large suffrage petitions, the last of which resulted in the Electoral Act 1893, which gave women the right to vote in the 1893 general election. The history within these walls as well as the importance of the building as a heritage-listed building added to the importance of protecting and preserving the original house as much as possible!

This was such a wonderful project to be a part of. We would like to thank our clients Heritage New Zealand for choosing us to complete this historical project. Kate Sheppard House is open to the public 🏠

🥇As the 2024 Paris Olympic season ends, we acknowledge our very own Olympian in the team here at LOC Construction🥇

Before Les O'Connell founded LOC Construction, he was a top New Zealand rower! Les achieved remarkable success with two World Championship gold medals in 1982 and 1983, and an Olympic gold medal at the 1984 Olympic Games in Los Angeles in the men's coxless four.

On the 40th anniversary of Les's Olympic adventure, it has been wonderful to see our rowers still gaining such success in the Paris Olympics in 2024 🚣🏼🏅
