Who said solar panels need a big, simple roof? This one gave our team a bit of a puzzle! Haha!

Another interesting installation completed in Rolleston, working with our friends at Sunshine Solar.

As you can see from the drone photos, this roof has plenty of angles, valleys and a skylight right in the middle. Not exactly the easiest layout for solar!

But that's where good design and careful installation make all the difference.

Here's what we installed:

- 16 × 470W high-efficiency solar panels
- 7.52kW solar array
- AlphaESS 8kW hybrid inverter
- Battery-ready system for future storage

The panels were arranged across different roof sections to make use of the available space.

And behind the scenes, our team took care of the electrical work, protection, bonding, monitoring and switchboard integration.

What I like about this project is that the homeowners can enjoy solar now and still have the option to add a battery later.

No need to buy everything at once.

Big thanks to Sunshine Solar for the design, to the homeowners for trusting us and to the boys for another job well done.

And yes, I did spend a fair bit of time looking at those roof angles. I think the drone had an easier job than we did! Haha!

Every roof is different. That's what keeps our work interesting.

I think I've just discovered the secret to a successful business partnership. Donuts from Couplands Bakeries ! Haha!

Had a lovely surprise on site today!

Colin from R.Redpath Ltd turned up completely out of the blue with a box of donuts, just for us.

Now that's what I call excellent customer service! Hahaha!

Usually, we're the ones chasing materials and trying to keep everything running smoothly on site. But today, the materials could wait a minute. We had more important things to deal with!

All jokes aside, it's these little things that make working with good people so enjoyable.

Business isn't just about orders, invoices and getting the job done. It's also about relationships, looking after each other and having a good laugh along the way.

Happy Birthday, Ethan!

Our young electrical apprentice, who works hard, gives everything his best shot and keeps learning every day.

At your age, you've already got the right attitude, and I genuinely believe you've got a great future ahead of you as an electrician.

It's a real privilege for me to be part of your journey and watch you grow, both as a person and as a tradie.

Keep up the great work, mate! And remember, even the best electricians started out by being told where to carry the tools. Hahahaha

Who's our favourite type of solar customer? I think every installer has a list. Haha!

After working with so many different homeowners, I've realised that the best customers aren't necessarily the ones with the biggest roofs or the biggest budgets.

They're the ones who make the whole process enjoyable.

My ideal solar customer?

- Trusts our team. They've chosen us for a reason and let us do what we do best.
- Asks questions. I actually love customers who are interested in how their system works. The more curious, the better.
- Communicates openly. If something concerns them, they tell us. Much easier to solve a problem before it becomes a big one.
- Respects the boys on site. A little kindness goes a long way, especially after a full day on the roof.
- Pays on time. Without us having to send three friendly reminders. This one makes our office very happy!
- Appreciates good workmanship. Not just the shiny panels, but all the careful work behind them.

And of course, the ones who offer the team a coffee or a pie deserve a special mention. Judging by our recent photos, the boys might put that one at the top of the list! Hahaha!

But seriously, good projects are built on mutual trust and respect.

We do our best to look after our customers, and it's wonderful when that goes both ways.

Now I'm curious. To our fellow solar designers, installers and tradies, what makes someone a great customer in your eyes?

And homeowners, feel free to tell us what makes a great installer too. Fair is fair!
