We have had an increase in calls about unusually high power bills

Before you reach for the phone, there are a few easy things you can check yourself 👇

🔍 Check your hot water – Is your cylinder heating constantly?

🔥 Look at your heating – Are heaters or heat pumps running more than usual?

🧺 Think about the dryer – Frequent dryer use can add up quickly.

🚿 Check your hot-water use – Long, hot showers can make a surprising difference.

🔌 Check standby appliances – TVs, gaming consoles and other devices can still use power when left on standby.

💡 Check the obvious – Lights, heaters and appliances accidentally left running can quickly add to your bill.

📊 Compare your bills – When did the increase actually start? That can give you a clue about what changed.

⚠️ Still can’t find the cause?
If your usage has jumped for no obvious reason, or you suspect an electrical fault, that’s when it’s worth getting a qualified tradesman to investigate.

💡 A few minutes of checking could save you an unnecessary call-out!

👉 Save this post for the next time your power bill gives you a fright! 😅
