🏆 With awards on our minds this week, it's got us reflecting on some of our own favourites from over the years.

Best Door, Best Window, and Best Use of Imported Timber all stand out from past Master Joiners Awards — but it's the multiple Best Kitchen wins that we're probably proudest of, since kitchens are where we spend the most time getting every detail exactly right.

2025 was a particularly special year — our project "The Treehouse" took out Best Timber Project, Best Creative Use of Timber, AND the Supreme Award at the Master Joiners Awards. Three wins from a single project doesn't happen often, and we're still proud of it.

50+ years in this trade, and it's wins like these that remind us why we still love what we do.

🏆 Another huge congratulations to Pringle Building — this time for their stunning renovation "Turn-of-the-Century Charm" in Cambridge, which took out Regional Supreme Renovation of the Year, Regional Category Winner, and Regional Gold at the 2026 Registered Master Builders House of the Year, along with a place in the national Top 100.

This 100-year-old character home was completely transformed — new open-plan living spaces, a full extension, and all the modern comforts, while carefully preserving original details like the ornate ceiling and heritage stucco cladding and leadlight windows. A genuinely impressive balance of old and new.

We were proud to have played a part in this one, and even prouder to see it recognised at this level. Two wins for the Pringle Building team this year — incredible work all round. Congratulations to everyone involved 👏

🏆 Huge congratulations to the team Pringle Building on their outstanding result at the 2026 Registered Master Builders House of the Year — taking home Regional Gold and Regional Category Winner in the Resene New Home $2 million–$4 million category, and a place in the national Top 100!

"Down to the River" was no easy build — an eight-metre drop to the Waikato River and a tight six-metre road frontage meant this one demanded some serious skill from everyone involved. The result speaks for itself: a stunning cedar-clad home with the river views to match.

We were proud to supply the windows and doors for this project, and even prouder to see it recognised at this level. Well deserved, Pringle Building team 👏

🛏️ Furniture that's built to outlast the kids who use it.

We built loads of custom bunks and like everything that leaves our workshop, they're made to survive jumping, wrestling, "just five more minutes," and everything else bedtime throws at them.

50+ years in this trade has taught us one thing: good joinery isn't about how it looks when it's brand new. It's about how it's still holding up years down the track.

🌱 Some of our favourite jobs start with a phone call that goes something like "I've got this timber… it's been sitting in the shed for years… but it means a lot to me."

Whether it's timber reclaimed from an old villa, floorboards pulled from a building being pulled down, or the good stuff Grandad set aside "for the right project one day" — we love it when clients bring us wood with a story attached.

It's not just timber at that point. It's a memory, a connection to someone, a piece of a place that mattered. Turning that into something you'll use every day — a table, a benchtop, a feature panel — is some of the most meaningful work we get to do.

Friday Flashback 📸

This week we're revisiting a country kitchen we crafted a few years back for a wonderful repeat client — and it's still one of our favourites.

There's something special about this space: soft grey shaker cabinetry, warm timber floors, and that beautiful dark bench top tying it all together. But it's the personal touches that really make it sing — those gorgeous leather cupboard handles add real character, and paired with the striking bridge tapware over the sink, you can tell every detail was chosen with love.

Picture it: a crisp winter evening, the SMEG range going full tilt, the kettle just off the boil, and the whole kitchen filled with the smell of something delicious cooking up a storm. This is exactly the kind of space we love creating — functional, beautiful, and full of warmth.

Huge thanks to our repeat clients for trusting us again and for adding all the little details that make a house feel like home.
