🎨 Did you know there's more to choosing paint than just the colour?

Meet Tony and Adam from Conley's Painting & Decorating, busy working on our turnkey home at 33 Whareātea Road, next door to our Milestone Homes Marlborough Show Home. 🏡

We asked owner Tony what makes a difference when painting a new home, and it turns out there's a bit more science behind it than you might think!

Here's what they're using at 33 Whareātea Road and why:

💧 Interior: Resene SpaceCote Low Sheen Kitchen & Bathroom helps resist mould and bacteria growth and makes everyday marks easier to clean.

☀️ Exterior: Resene Sonyx 101 CoolColour reflects more of the sun's heat, helping protect exterior surfaces from heat-related stress.

It's another example of the thought that goes into building a Milestone home, from choosing products that help protect your home for years to come, to working with experienced local tradespeople who take pride in what they do.

And a special shout out to Tony's other employee, his trusty Graco Ultra Max 495 spray gun! 😂 Apparently, it's a pretty valued member of the team. Check it out in the video! 🎬

You can't beat a site visit when the Marlborough weather turns it on! ☀️

And with progress like this, not to mention that view, Maria’s thumbs up pretty much says it all!

There’s plenty happening on this elevated build, with the timber subfloor and framing in place and Edan Fitzpatrick and his team getting the trusses up during our visit🔨.

Hamish and Edan were also busy going over our clients confirmed details for what will soon be the kitchen (although judging by this photo, they could just as easily be discussing lunch 😆). It's all part of keeping communication flowing between our clients and build team... plus, Hamish loves being on site making sure everything is tracking as it should be.

33 Whareātea Road is coming together nicely 🏠

The GIB is in, the pallets are out, and another stage of the build is ticked off.

Thanks to Adam and the team at CARTERS Blenheim for helping us to keep things moving. Timing and our local supply partners are all part of bringing a new home together.

And this particular Milestone is getting closer, with completion expected early December ✨

There’s something satisfying about watching a home come together, one brick at a time 😃

Meet Kendall from AD Bricklayers, busy on the brickwork at our Milestone home currently under construction at 33 Whareātea Road, Wai Iti, Blenheim

We recently caught up with Andrew, owner-operator of AD Bricklayers, about their work on our Milestone homes. Outside of Milestone, his team are also working on some significant projects around Marlborough, including the gym extension at Marlborough Boys College and Summerset Retirement Village.... where Andrew estimates they’ve laid around 300,000 bricks to date. That’s a lot of bricks! 🤩

And when we asked Andrew about working on Milestone Homes, one comment particularly made us smile:

“We like doing Milestone's work. I like what Hamish does. He does a nice product, and visually it’s very pleasing at a good price.”

That’s another reminder that a finished home is the result of many different local trades coming together and plenty of craftmanship along the way.

Welcome home, Lester & Melva! 🏡

There’s something pretty special about handing over the keys to a brand-new home, and last Wednesday it was Lester and Melva's turn 🩵

It was an absolute pleasure to welcome them into their beautiful new Milestone home in Wai Iti, raise a glass of bubbles and celebrate the end of their building journey... and the beginning of life in their new home 🥂

And joining us for the celebration were their wonderful 'flatmates', Kaye and Vernon 😊 While their new home has been taking shape, having moved from further South, Lester and Melva have been fortunate to call Kaye and Vernon's place home. A lovely friendship and a pretty special way to make the wait for a new home a little easier.

It’s what you don’t see that matters too 🏡

Once the walls are lined and a new home starts taking shape, there’s a whole lot of workmanship hidden behind them.

Here’s Craig from Marlborough Roofing Plumbing and Gas with aquatherm pipework in one of our Milestone homes currently under construction on Whareātea Road, Wai Iti Redwoodtown.

So why aquatherm?

💧Its fittings weld over the pipe rather than sitting inside it, so the internal pipe diameter isn't reduced at each fitting, meaning fewer traditional joins throughout the pipework which helps to maintain better water flow through to your taps

🌡️It’s corrosion resistant and its thermal properties help retain water temperature. We double-insulate the pipework too (essentially giving it a foam jacket), which the team tells us results in zero heat loss 😃

🛡️And for some extra peace of mind, aquatherm comes with a 50-year warranty

These are the details you’ll probably never see once your home is finished but they're details that can make a difference to how your home performs.
