How should we be powering our buildings for the future?

As we head into the final day of FM Summit Aotearoa 2026, we're turning our attention to the future of energy and the role our buildings can play in shaping it.

This afternoon, our final The Full Picture | Te Tirohanga Whānui session brings together Tom Slade, Annie Wolfkamp and Prageeth Jayathissa to explore everything from smarter energy use and electrification to the opportunities ahead for more efficient, resilient buildings.

Guided by Eddie Hendl, the conversation will challenge us to think about the decisions we can make today to power what comes next.

Three perspectives. One conversation. The Full Picture.

Is ticking the right boxes really enough?

At FM Summit Aotearoa 2026, we're looking beyond the paperwork to ask what genuine building compliance looks like in practice.

From regulatory expectations and compliance schedules to design intent and building performance, Clare Botha, Brad Hislop and Rob Holland bring three different perspectives to one important conversation.

Guided by Anthony van Meer, with Trudy McGrath joining the discussion, we'll explore where the gaps emerge and what FMs should be looking for, questioning and acting on.

Because a compliant building on paper should also be a safe, well-performing building in reality.

Three perspectives. One conversation. The Full Picture.

From the first spark of inspiration to the finishing touches, it's all starting to come together!

In our last instalment, we shared the story behind the words of The Marks That Matter. Now, we're taking you a little further behind the scenes to where the creative journey began.

Shed 10 gave us more than a home for this year's Summit. Its character, colours, textures and details helped shape the look and feel of everything we've been working towards.

What began as inspiration drawn from the building has grown into a carefully considered Summit experience, with plenty of creativity, collaboration and attention to detail along the way.

And with just two days to go, those ideas are finally becoming a reality.

We're putting the finishing touches on something we can't wait to share with our FM whānau. Every detail has been considered with our members in mind, and we're so looking forward to seeing it all come to life.

Not long now. See you at Shed 10!

We've got a little something up our sleeve for Under the Summit Stars... 🪩✨

And trust us, you're going to want your dancing shoes for this one!

We're thrilled to announce that Sweet Mix Kids will be bringing the beats to our FM Summit Aotearoa 2026 Dinner!

Having lit up stages from Coachella to Rhythm & Vines, this Kiwi DJ duo knows exactly how to get a party started. And come Tuesday night, it's our FM whānau's turn!

We're talking great food, even better company, plenty of celebration and a dance floor that's ready and waiting.

A big thank you to our Summit Dinner Partner, Kiwi Maintenance Group, for helping make this special evening possible.

The countdown is on. See you Under the Summit Stars! 🌟

Smarter buildings are one thing. Making them perform smarter is another.

From the way we design new buildings to understanding existing assets and connecting complex systems, there's a lot that goes into making a building truly intelligent.

At FM Summit Aotearoa 2026, When Buildings Get Smarter | Ka Mātau Ake ngā Whare brings three perspectives together as part of our The Full Picture series.

Nicolas Brisson explores how smarter thinking starts at the design stage.

Benny Huang looks at why understanding the buildings we already manage is the first step towards improving them.

Deirdre Oelofse takes us inside City Rail Link to explore integrated operations and what happens when everything connects.

With Nick Sterling guiding the conversation, we'll bring these perspectives together to explore how smarter buildings can deliver better outcomes for FM.

Three perspectives. One conversation. Plenty to take away.

Can our politicians build a better Aotearoa?

It's a big question, and one we're putting directly to six political representatives at FM Summit Aotearoa 2026.

With the General Election approaching, the conversation around infrastructure, sustainability and the future of our built environment couldn't be more timely.

Representatives from National, Labour, ACT, the Green Party, New Zealand First and The Opportunities Party will come together to share their perspectives on the decisions that will shape our country.

Hosted by Stuff political journalist Rebecca Wright, expect a lively discussion, differing viewpoints and important questions about the future of the places we build, manage and maintain.

Because the decisions made today will leave marks long after the election.
