Amber Early Learning Centre , 43 Takanini School Road.
In collaboration with Paul Rogers Establish our team at LAS is proud to have been apart of this new development, a contemporary and welcoming childcare environment that balances residential scale with a strong civic identity. The design combines a simple, pitched-roof form with a bold two-storey volume clad in dark vertical metal panels, creating a distinctive street presence while remaining sympathetic to the surrounding neighbourhood.
The building’s composition clearly expresses its internal functions, with the upper-level element providing a visual landmark and the lower-level spaces maintaining a child-friendly, approachable scale. A generous entrance canopy, accessible ramp, and direct connection to parking ensure safe and convenient arrival for families and staff.
The material palette of contrasting dark and light cladding creates a modern architectural character, while extensive glazing maximises natural light and visual connection to outdoor play areas. Soft landscaping along the street frontage enhances the public realm and contributes to a welcoming, community-focused setting.
Designed to support early childhood learning, the centre reflects Amber ELC’s commitment to providing a nurturing, stimulating, and inclusive environment where children can learn, play, and grow within a safe and thoughtfully designed educational setting. The architecture reinforces the centre’s values of warmth, accessibility, and connection to community.
