“I still get a buzz every day I come into this house... In the end, it was like instead of feeling I've got to overview this whole thing the whole time, I could lay it in the hands of the expert and just step back and reap the benefits of that. And that took a huge amount of stress away.”

Peter and Frances came to NZ Builders after a house fire turned their lives upside down, so hearing them describe how comfortable they felt putting their trust in our team really means a lot to us. Thanks for the trust Peter and Frances!

It’s easy to get caught up in the busyness of business. Thirty days seems to go pretty quickly these days, so we thought we'd take a moment to reflect on what’s been happening across our sites.

And looking back, it's been a busy month. With 11 active projects across Auckland, there’s been plenty happening. Some are just getting underway, others are well into construction, and a few are getting ready to welcome their owners through the doors.

Here's a look at what our teams have been up to over the last 30 days.

It was a little bit surreal to see our names on the Stuff home page last month! In case you missed it, we were lucky enough to chat to journalist Colleen Hawkes about how we got started and the journey NZ Builders has taken since those early days. If you haven’t had the chance to read it, we’ve put the link in our stories today!

We’re right on track at our Ōrākei project. Framing is now complete, and the team is busy installing the building wrap and preparing for the next stage of roofing. Good progress, good weather – can't ask for much more than that!

We built our values together as a team, talking through what matters to us, the standards we expect from each other, and the kind of business we want NZ Builders to be. The result was four simple values: Look After It, Sharp Pencils, Own The Job and Sweep The Floor.

They’re now a guiding force across the business, shaping how we communicate with clients and each other, the decisions we make, and the standards we hold ourselves to on site.

Connor surveying the progress at our Coatesville site. With the scaffolding now down, we’re about to start on the internal linings before moving into the finishes and some of the finer details that will really start bringing the home together.

“I look back at that time and the interaction with the team as being really, really positive.”

That’s the kind of feedback we love hearing. Our Parnell renovation had plenty to work through along the way, so keeping things calm, clear and moving forward was a big focus for Jesse and the team.

It was also great to hear the clients talk about the pride the guys took in the work itself. Not just getting it done, but making sure the quality was something everyone was genuinely happy with.

A great result, and just as importantly, a really positive experience getting there.

Anyone who spends enough time on site knows the earlier stages can be some of the best to look at. Coatesville has been full of strong lines, interesting angles and good light from framing through to roofing. As always, it's all about enjoying the process, not just the end result.

Some sites have something a bit special about them, and our ongoing Orakei project is definitely one of them. We’re racing towards getting the roof on, and the guys are no doubt enjoying the views along the way.

Meet Chrissy, the person keeping plenty of things moving behind the scenes at NZ Builders.

Chrissy has been with us for five years, looking after the admin and all those jobs that need doing to keep the business running smoothly. She keeps us organised, keeps us boys in check, and does it all with a great attitude.

A top person and a big part of the team!
