One of the biggest misconceptions about renovating is that you need to have everything sorted before you speak to us.

You don’t.

Some clients come to me right at the beginning with an idea of what they want. Others already have plans, a designer or even selections underway.

My job is to understand where you’re at, what still needs to happen and how we can connect the pieces from there.

Because the earlier we can get the right people talking, the easier it is to make good decisions before they become expensive ones on site.

A good before and after always says a lot.

This bathroom at our Browns Bay renovation has come a long way from tired and dated to calm, fresh and beautifully finished.

What I love about projects like this is that it’s not just about making the room look better. It’s about rebuilding it properly and creating a space that feels better to use every day.

I recently attended The Professional Builder AI + Marketing Summit on the Gold Coast, which was a great opportunity to step out of the day-to-day, learn, connect with others in the industry and bring fresh ideas back into the business.

I believe it’s so important to keep learning, stay open to new ways of doing things and continually look at how we can improve - not just in the way projects are delivered, but in the systems, communication and overall experience we create for our clients.

Of course I want my clients to love their finished home, but I also want them to feel looked after while we’re getting there.

Clear communication, keeping them involved and taking care of the details behind the scenes are such a big part of that for me.

I love working with talented interior designers because they bring such incredible ideas and product knowledge to a project.

But one thing I’m always conscious of is making sure those ideas also work from a construction point of view.

That’s why I like getting the right people talking early - designers, builders and specialists - so we can look at what’s being proposed, work through any challenges and make adjustments before they become costly problems later.

It doesn’t mean compromising the design.

It means protecting it, while making sure we can actually bring it to life beautifully.

Sometimes a full-home renovation is less about changing everything and more about making the whole house work better together.

For our Epsom project, we updated the kitchen, bathrooms, laundry, flooring, lighting and heating, while keeping details worth holding onto - like the original timber floors.

Behind the scenes, we coordinated the trades, sequencing and weekly client walkthroughs so everything moved as one project.

That’s the thing about renovating - it’s rarely a straight line. There are exciting moments, unexpected turns, big decisions and plenty of little moments in between.

The details are one of the biggest things I look at when I’m walking through a project.

I’m checking how everything is coming together, what needs attention and whether there are any unexpected changes we need to talk through.

We also do a walkthrough with our clients every week.

It gives them the chance to see the progress, ask questions, raise anything they’re unsure about and make sure they’re happy with how the renovation is taking shape.

For me, those weekly conversations are so important.

They keep everyone on the same page and make sure decisions are being made together, not after the fact.
