This week we celebrated a milestone achievement - Carter Rinkin has completed his Boat Building Level 4 Apprenticeship.

We are incredibly proud to have Carter on board as a fully qualified Boat Builder.

This achievement wouldn't have been possible without the support of our wider team. We acknowledge all the staff who have helped Carter on his journey; passing on your trade secrets, offering guidance, and showing patience along the way. Special thanks to MAST Academy for their continued contribution to our onsite apprentice programme.

Completing an apprenticeship isn’t easy. It requires juggling on-the-job training, off-site study, and personal life for three-and-a half years.
But Carters journey with McMullen and Wing did not start three-and-a half years ago. Carter Joined the team in December 2017 with a general engineering trade and after about 5 years decided that completing a second trade in Boat Building was the path he wanted to pursue.

During his time with McMullen and Wing, Carter has shown immense dedication, grit, and a true commitment to aluminium fabrication and boat building, presenting high-quality craftsmanship and demonstrating his problem-solving skills.

As he steps into this next chapter of their career, we look forward to seeing him continue to grow, take on new responsibilities in leadership, and contribute to the industry.

"Congratulations Carter, on a job well done".

WOW! January has passed us by in a flash - we hope everyone had a safe and relaxing holiday break.

NEW-BUILDS:
M&W's return to work mid January saw us straight into the launch of our 2nd electric ferry for Auckalnd Transport. Due for launch the Tuesday prior to the long weekend of wild weather, wind gusts meant that she only touched that water briefly on her planned lauch day, with her actual full launch a week later.

Currently docked on McMullen & Wing's marina, 'AT2' has a couple of months of commissioning and seatrials ahead before you will see her out and about in the harbour.
