🔐 Troubleshooting Tuesday

Having trouble with your lock or door? Here are the 3 most common issues we see and some simple fixes you can try! 👇

🔑 1. Key hard to turn?

Try: A quick spray of Inox or Lanox into the lock and insert/remove the key a few times.
🚫 Avoid WD-40, cooking oil or graphite—they can cause more problems over time.

🚪 2. Ranch slider won't lock?

Try: Lift the handle slightly while locking. If it works, the door is likely out of alignment or the door need servicing.

🔋 3. Digital lock not responding?

Try: Replace all batteries with fresh alkaline batteries. Low batteries are the most common cause of lock issues.

💡 A little maintenance goes a long way! Fixing small issues early can help avoid bigger, more expensive repairs later.

🪟🔑 5 Easy Steps to Keep Your Sliding Door Running Smoothly

One of the biggest causes of stiff, noisy, or hard-to-open ranch sliders is simply a dirty track.

It's amazing what we find hiding in the bottom of sliding door tracks! 😲

Here's a quick maintenance tip you can do at home:

1️⃣ Remove the big stuff
Start by fishing out any debris and objects sitting in the bottom of the track.

Common offenders include:
• Leaves and sticks 🍂
• Hair and pet fur 🐕
• Lego pieces 🧱
• Pencils ✏️
• Pegs
• Dirt and stones

2️⃣ Vacuum the track
Use a vacuum cleaner with a crevice attachment to remove all the dust, dirt, hair, and fine debris left behind.

3️⃣ Wash the track
Using warm water and a small amount of mild dishwashing liquid, clean the track thoroughly with a cloth or soft brush.

4️⃣ Dry the track
Wipe everything dry with a clean cloth. Leaving water sitting in the track can attract more dirt and grime.

5️⃣ Lubricate the track
Apply a light spray of lubricant to help keep things moving smoothly.

✅ Recommended:
• Inox
• Lanox

⚠️ Not recommended:
• CRC
• WD-40

🚫 Definitely avoid:
• Cooking oil
• Candle wax
• Graphite powder

These products can attract dirt, become sticky over time, and often make the problem worse.

A few minutes of maintenance can help extend the life of your rollers and make your sliding door much easier to use.

If your ranch slider is still difficult to open after cleaning, it may be time for new rollers, adjustments, or a full service.
