Lynette has been a wonderful supporter of my business since we met a few years ago. I love maintaining and slowly improving her Hinemoa garden.

Meanwhile, she’s been busy creating something gorgeous of her own – Kita & Co in Birkenhead, a lovely women’s fashion boutique!

Pop in, have a browse and support local!

A little thoughtful pruning, careful shaping and attention to detail makes all the difference, creating a garden that feels lush, balanced and beautifully established.

We love watching our clients’ gardens evolve throughout the seasons. With regular monthly visits, we keep everything looking its best while allowing each plant to shine.

Here’s a little sneak peek of a local garden transformation we worked on. From tired old conifers and a dated, dreary garden to a gorgeous, modern tropical retreat!

We’ve absolutely loved bringing this garden on Seaview Ave, Northcote, back to life!

Our vision was to create a lush, modern, low-maintenance garden that looks beautiful all year round without needing endless upkeep.

Quality, carefully selected tropical plants

Gorgeous Corten steel edging, combining straight lines with beautiful curves

Natural stone, modern stepping stones and warm timber features

Layers of lush greenery, texture and pops of colour

A fresh, contemporary look that completely transforms the space!

And a special thank you to Mark and his lovely family. We’ve genuinely loved working with you and bringing this transformation to life! I can’t wait to bring over the drone to get photos of all the spaces.

AI is a fantastic tool for bringing garden and outdoor design ideas to life, but there’s one thing it can’t replace – real hands-on experience and knowing what actually works.

It’s all very well creating a beautiful picture, but understanding plants, proportions, practical layouts, materials and what’s actually achievable is where the real skill comes in.

Take this poolside design, for example. It’s not just about making something look gorgeous – it needs to be functional, realistic and suited to New Zealand conditions and requirements.

At Sarah’s Garden Services, I love helping clients visualise how their outdoor spaces could look before the work begins.

And the best part? I don’t charge huge landscape design fees. Just a small, affordable design charge for my time, experience and creative input.

Because a beautiful picture is one thing… knowing how to turn it into a beautiful, workable space is another! 🌱

It’s all go today in Seaview, I’m in my element indoors and outdoors. We have Irrigation Nick, Woolgro Mike, builder Denis and my team working their butts off to get this robe today.

When Prue — a fellow Birkenhead local and local business owner — asks me to help out in her gardens, I jump at the chance!

Today we gave the place a good spring spruce-up:Water blasting the paths, Weeding, Hedge & Ficus trimming, A bit of CPR for the avocado tree, Fresh black bark to finish everything off

I’m incredibly grateful for every recommendation, booking and friendly wave from people around Birkenhead and Northcote. Supporting local really does keep our community thriving.

Had the best day implementing my vision.

You’d never know it now, but this bank was an absolute w**d fest! We cleared it out, replanted the grasses, added more planting, laid w**d mat and bark mulch, and finally put to use the beautiful stones that had been sitting in the garage for years. Also added a w**e barrel and Acer but the front door.

Such a satisfying transformation — tidy, low maintenance and looking so much more intentional.

Some serious changes have been happening at this lovely Birkenhead property.

We’ve replaced the old plastic garden edging with sleek powder-coated black steel, instantly giving the gardens a much sharper, more contemporary finish.

The front garden has had a complete revamp, with fresh Buxus hedging, Whirling Butterflies (Gaura), salvias, a beautiful Margaret Merri rose and soft groundcover planting to bring colour, movement and structure.

We’ve also carefully trimmed and reshaped the existing hedges, allowing them to grow through and soften the black fencing.

A year ago, I espaliered the plum tree, and it’s so rewarding to finally see it responding beautifully — lots of gorgeous new buds appearing and plenty of growth to look forward to this season.

A garden really does get better with time when it’s thoughtfully planted and regularly cared for.
