For years Anatoly worked behind the scenes, servicing CNCs, edgebanders and manufacturing equipment for cabinetmakers across New Zealand.

That experience taught me something important:

👉 Great kitchens aren’t just about beautiful design. They’re built on precision, reliable machinery, and a team that genuinely cares about quality.

We are honoured to have Anatoly journey featured in JOINERS Magazine. It shares how moving to New Zealand, working as a machinery technician, and eventually starting Kiwi Craft Kitchens shaped the way we build today.

That’s exactly why we’ve invested in reliable equipment and efficient systems. Less time fixing machines means more time focusing on what matters—building kitchens that fit perfectly, are finished to a high standard, and are delivered on time.

We don’t buy machinery because it’s impressive.
We invest in it because our clients deserve consistent quality.

Thank you to everyone who has trusted Kiwi Craft Kitchens with their home or project. This feature is a reminder of how far we’ve come—and we’re only just getting started.

Some kitchens just have that one standout feature—and for me, it’s this island.

I love seeing it before the benchtop goes on because you can really appreciate the craftsmanship that sits underneath. Once the stone is installed, everything comes together and the island becomes the centrepiece of the kitchen.

A great result is always a team effort.

What do you think of this island?

Every room I walk into… I can’t help but check out the cabinetry 😂 Anyone else?

Here’s a mistake I see all the time 👇

That paint chipping off the door edges? Not wear and tear — a manufacturing shortcut.

Doors need a 2–3mm radius machined into the edges BEFORE painting. Without it, paint can’t wrap the edge properly and it wears off fast.

At Kiwi Craft Kitchens, we machine every door with that radius first. Small step, big difference — doors that still look brand new years later.

How do you open an integrated fridge when there are no visible handles? 🤔

It’s one of the questions we get asked the most, so here are three proven solutions:

✔️ Traditional handle
✔️ BLUM Servo-Drive push-to-open
✔️ Custom recessed finger pull integrated into the cabinetry

Each option has its own advantages, depending on the style, budget, and functionality you’re looking for.

Which one would you choose?

It’s the little things that make a kitchen feel right. 👀

Most people never think about where the sensor sits in a pantry. We do. Tuck it by the hinges instead of the opening edge, and you get that satisfying moment where the light glows on as the door swings open — instead of it already being lit before you’ve even opened it.

Tiny detail. Big difference in how it feels.

This is the kind of thing we obsess over so you don’t have to.

Builders & designers — if you want joinery with this level of detail on your next project, give us a shout.

Most LED channels are installed with the lip sitting proud of the board. You can see it. You can feel it. At Kiwi Craft we route the channel twice — once for the body, once for the lip — so everything sits perfectly flush. No raised edge, no shadow line, no rocking. Just a clean, seamless finish that reflects the quality of the whole kitchen. If you’re a builder or designer who cares about the details, let’s talk.

Most corner filler panels run straight up to the benchtop.

On this project, we continued the recessed handle detail through the filler panel to keep the negative line flowing The difference between a standard kitchen and a custom kitchen is often in the details.

In this project, we carried the recessed handle detail through the corner filler panel rather than running it straight up to the benchtop. A small adjustment, but one that creates a cleaner and more consistent result.

Would your cabinet maker think of this?

Fully wrapped curved cabinetry — warm walnut melamine flowing seamlessly around every radius, finished with a deep charcoal base for contrast. No sharp corners. No shortcuts. Just clean, continuous curves built to spec.

This is the kind of detail that separates a good kitchen from an extraordinary one — and the reason builders and designers trust us to deliver when the design gets complex.

If your next project calls for something beyond the standard box, let’s talk.
