Adele and I have just got back from the Laser Plumbing & Electrical Australasian Conference for 2026, held in Fiji over the past few days.
We were thrilled to have won the Customer Service Excellence Award for Laser Electrical NZ.
A huge reward for the commitment and great efforts of our team.
It also tops off a very special year for our business, as we celebrate 40 yrs in business, serving the HBC.
It is hard to believe that this all started in 1986 when I started out on my journey of being a self employed electrician.
Our descion to join Laser Electrical in 2008, was one that gave us a great boost and one which we have never regretted.
The support of the other Laser business owners and our own performance group has been amazing.
Winning the Customer Service Excellence Award is a huge honour and we were also a finalist for the Sales & Marketing Excellence Award, both awards, very important to us.
I would like to thank our customers, who take the time to reply to our brief NPS questionnaire. (Net Promoter Score) giving us consistent 10 out of 10 for our performance and also taking the time to give us positive Google reviews.
I also want to thank my team. It is due to their effort and continued dedication to do every job to the highest standard, that we won us this award.

An early start for me and the team at Drury this morning!
Installing cables for two 400 amp three phase underground power supplies, six streetlight cables and a roadside sign cable.
1400m of cables installed.
600m of 630mm Ali
400m of 500mm Ali included.
Hard work but well done to the team!
5am start and got the job done!!

40 years in business this year and still producing the goods!

So Adele, Evan and I from Laser Electrical Silverdale and Laser Electrical Warkworth, have just returned from joining most of the other Laser business owners from around NZ, at our annual conference, held in Chrischurch.
It was the 25th Conference for the Laser brand in NZ.
Held in the Te Pae Convention Centre.
The MC was Jeremy Corbett and he kept us well entertained, leading us through three informative days with great speakers including, Zion Armstrong (kiwi born President of Adidas Corporation), Raelene Castle and workshops Greg Nathan, Laser suppliers and Laser Group Managers.

As usual, the day before the conference is spent helping out the local community. This year was a little different. We were bused out to the Avon Heathcote estuary, an ecologically important coastal wetland site and home for migratory birds including the endangered Godwits, that fly between this wetland and Alaska. And after a tour of the area, we were put to work, working with DOC staff, planting hundreds of young plants and cutting out hundreds of damaging Lupins.

The following three days were then spent mixing and learning with other business owners. Presentations and competitions from our suppliers, who set up displays in the trade hall in the convention centre. The conference finished with a Gala dinner and annual prizegiving and awards night, celebrating the successes across the network.
We were happy that Laser Electrical Silverdale was recognised as a finalist for the Customer Service Excellence Award, so one of the top three businesses nominated for this award. Eventually won by our friends at Laser Electrical Whangarei.

A great conference, great catching up with other Laser business owners and really well organised by the team at Laser Group.

As part of our working for free for non profit organisations, we had the pleasure of installing some new lighting in Couldrey House Wendeholm.
A beautiful old building, and on a lovely day.

We have installed some hidden lighting to lift the light levels in the rather dark dining area.
A difficult task, as any lighting, let alone LED floodlighting, was very minimal when Couldrey house was built.
The brief was "keep in period",
so hidden lighting it was.

Refection off the white ceiling was about all we could achieve.

I had met the late Tim & Brenda Couldrey, past patrons of the Peninsula Golf Club, so it was a pleasure to help out.

What a great review to receive today, from one of our long standing customers-

"They came on a Friday late afternoon, while it was pouring down. They found a fault with the UFH pump and they took it away. They repaired the pump in their workshop and then surprised me by coming back and reinstalling the pump, without letting me know beforehand! Only after they had finished the reinstallation and testing, they knocked on the door to let me know that it was all working again.
I was totally overwhelmed!
On a cold, wet Friday, very late afternoon, getting very wet while doing the work and being happy and friendly!
This is not running the extra mile, this is running an extra marathon!!!

So our advertising campaign has an addition, we are now on the digital billboard adjacent to the Coast Plaza, Whangaparaoa Rd.
And yes, we have served the coast since 1986.
A name change along the way, from Fairgray Electrical in 2009, to Laser Electrical Silverdale when we joined the Laser Group.
