Project Safe Refuge We are a group of architects and designers, committed to proposing strategic and long-term solutions in response the the Ukrainian refugee crisis.

We are currently organising workshops in Poland and designing a prototype shelter unit in the Netherlands.

Our unit made it on the news! We are happy to see the family has moved in and is safely in Trostyanets. We are proud of this project and thankful to all the supporters and donors!

13/11/2025

We received a positive feedback of our work for the renovation of refugee centre in collaboration with Volunteers with no Limits, which makes us glad and charged to keep providing our design skills to create better spaces.

Every contribution, big or small, brings us closer to creating safe and welcoming spaces for those in need. Let's keep building hope together!

🌍✨ We are proud to share that we’ve joined the Climate and Environment Charter for Humanitarian Organizations!

This global initiative brings together humanitarian actors committed to reducing environmental impact, strengthening resilience, and making climate action part of humanitarian response. 🌱💚

We now stand alongside leading organizations such as the IFRC, UNHCR, and Médecins Sans Frontières. For us, this means ensuring that our work with displaced communities is not only life-saving, but also sustainable for the future. 🌏🤝

✨ We’re thrilled to share that we will be presenting our work at the Humanitarian Studies Centre 2025 One-Day Conference in The Hague!

Our presentation,  Designing With, Not For: Participatory Design in Humanitarian Response , will explore humanitarian action through collaborative design development involving communities.

This is an exciting opportunity to exchange knowledge, connect with global experts, and amplify the voices of displaced communities we work alongside. Together, we believe in reimagining humanitarian support with resilience, dignity, and compassion at its core.

On May 20th, we held the second lecture of the month with students from Keio University in Tokyo, Japan.

We presented our work and methodology behind the Transitional Housing Unit (THU) in Trostyanets, Ukraine, project developed through engagement with the local community to better understand their needs and priorities in the context of displacement.

We thank Keio University for the invitation and the students for their interest and thoughtful participation in the discussion!
