This is the next event in the series I'm curating at the New Institute on architecture and investigative journalism. We've got another great team coming to Rotterdam this weekend - Hagit Keysar and Pablo Rey Mazón, who specialise in creating aerial images using kites and balloons. They'll be giving a lecture on Thursday evening and then on Saturday and Sunday, they're running a workshop on how to build camera rigs for kites and balloons and we're going to be taking them out to create our own aerial images. It should be great fun - if you have time and are in the 'dam this will be well worth your time.

I'm going to be in London on 5th June, talking about Migration Trail - this time the production side and all the behind the scenes stuff of making it. How do you fund a project like this? make it? pull together the team? disseminate the finished thing? It should be a really interesting evening and some good discussion. There might be a chance to test out some of the instant messaging from the project too...

ONE DAY WORKSHOP LEARNING OSINT/REMOTE SENSING/SATELLITE IMAGE ANALYSIS/GEOLOCATION - SAT 4 MAY -

We have a few places left for this workshop I'm running a week on Saturday, with the amazing conflict monitoring team from Airwars. It'll be a great chance to hear about their work monitoring the impact on civilians of the Battle of Raqqa and to try out some of their tools and methods. The course is heavily subsidised to try to make it as affordable as possible for as many people as possible and we have a number of student spots for just e25 for the day too. It should be a really interesting day and is a great chance for anyone who'd like to learn more about open source investigations, how to use satellite imagery and social media. Let me know if you have any questions in the comments below and please pass this on to any colleagues who you think might be interested.

Saturday 4th May, 10am-5pm, the New Institute, Rotterdam, NL. Tickets and more info here:
