Two Hoek Design yachts are set to race in the legendary St. Barths Bucket, with events taking place this weekend from Friday, 13 March through Sunday, 15 March.

The fifth yacht in the Truly Classic 128 series, Linnea Aurora, and the 108 ft Truly Classic Namuun will both be competing, showcasing the timeless design and modern performance that define the Truly Classic series.

Hoek Design yachts have been a familiar sight at the Bucket for many years. From the majestic J Class yachts Lionheart and Topaz to classic yachts such as Athos, Marie, Elfje, Wisp and Meraki, our designs have regularly joined the fleet sailing the iconic courses off St. Barths.

We look forward to seeing Linnea Aurora and Namuun continue that tradition on the waters off St. Barths.

The whole team here at Hoek Design wishes Linnea Aurora fair winds, following seas and peak performance in the 3,000-mile RORC Transatlantic Race from Lanzarote to Antigua.

The fifth and latest in our Truly Classic 128 design series, this superb ocean cruiser has great potential for passage racing and we’re watching her progress with interest.

Last weekend, the team took to the water for the Dutch National Championships V/VA Lemsteraak, with Andre and Lennard joining the VA126 Danielle. Designed in our office 30+ years ago, she remains highly competitive, proving her strength in a fleet of 10 boats. After a weekend of close racing in a wide range of conditions, Danielle secured second place overall - just a single point shy of victory.

Sailing our yachts in competition is always a valuable experience, helping us stay closely connected to their real-world performance. The lessons learned on the water continue to feed back into the drawing board, driving us to refine and improve on our designs.

BARK EUROPA sailed into Amsterdam during the stunning SAIL-in parade, flanked by hundreds of boats — marking an epic start to SAIL Amsterdam 2025, running now through Sunday.

The famous three-masted bark Europa was one of the first projects in Hoek Design’s early days. Between 1986 and 1994, we carried out all design and engineering work to transform the vessel from a former German lightship into the tall ship sailing vessel she is today.

The second day of the Palma Superyacht Cup saw a change of cards on the race course in Class One. The brand new Truly Classic 128 Linnea Aurora was not able to start on the first day of the regatta, due to gear failure, but today she came fresh out of the box and sailed a perfect race, winning her class in her first ever competitive outing.
Her well trained and sorted rivals, the two other TC128s Atalante and Vijonara, had a fierce battle on the first beat, changing positions twice.
This is the first time that we’ve ever seen three of the five TC 128s built to date competing against each other in the same race, and the conditions in the Bay of Palma today were absolutely perfect!

📸 Sailing Energy/The Superyacht Cup

It’s an exciting prospect. With newly launched Linnea Aurora joining her sister ships Atalante and Vijonara this week at Superyacht Cup Palma, for the first time three of our Truly Classic 128s will compete head to head – effectively forming a fleet within the regatta.

These spectacular, high-performance world cruising yachts are a semi-custom series with identical hull lines and very similar sailplans. Each of them is extensively optimised for regattas by an owner with a strong competitive streak, so closely matched racing is assured.

Superyacht Cup Palma is a rare opportunity for owners to experience their yachts sailing in absolute peak performance mode, with some of the world’s top professional sailors among their crew. For us as naval architects, it’s intensely rewarding – and both André and Ruurt will be racing on board the Truly Classic 128s this week.

The Hoek Design Cup is up for grabs as well as the Class A trophy, and any of these yachts can win.
