When avian flu began reaching U.S. dairy herds, Larson Acres couldn’t afford to wait to strengthen its biosecurity measures.

The fourth-generation family dairy in Evansville, Wisconsin, installed AVIX Autonomic laser bird deterrents across the operation, with the support of our trusted partner Wild Goose Chase.

Today, AVIX helps keep birds away from cattle feed, protect ration quality, and reduce a key biosecurity risk. The impact goes beyond the initial installation: laser bird control is now built into the budget for every new barn.

A practical investment in feed protection, herd biosecurity, and long-term farm management.

Why do the same birds keep returning to the same rooftop, warehouse, farm or facility?

The answer may be site fidelity: a behaviour where birds repeatedly return to places that have worked for them before for food, shelter, water, roosting or nesting.

In this video, we look at how birds learn which locations are worth returning to, how other birds can influence that behaviour, and why cleaning a site doesn’t always change the pattern.

As fall migration winds down across the U.S., understanding why birds choose certain locations can help facilities take a more proactive approach to bird management.

At 3L Ag’s 168-acre California feedlot, 15,000+ starlings were contributing to an estimated $48,000 in annual feed loss.

After installing five AVIX Autonomic systems with our partner Cypress AgriTech, 3L Ag estimates 75% less bird feeding activity.

But feed loss is only part of the problem. Biosecurity is the less visible risk. Reducing wild bird activity around feed and livestock areas can help limit that risk, too.

Read the full customer story to see how 3L Ag is tackling year-round bird pressure with a low-disruption, non-lethal approach. 👇

How a California Feedlot Cut Bird Feed Loss from $48,000 to $12,000 a Year Every day, year-round, some 15,000 starlings and a large gull population descended on 3L Ag’s 168-acre feedlot in Bakersfield, California, to eat corn meant for the cattle. The cost was an estimated $48,000 a year, with no ...

What happens when vineyards replace netting with laser bird deterrents?

Petoskey Farms and Hawthorne Vineyards in northern Michigan have reduced crop loss while significantly cutting the labor needed to protect their grapes.

Their story, recently featured in W**e Business Monthly, shows how AVIX Autonomic is being used in real vineyard conditions—with installation and site-specific programming by our partner, Wild Goose Chase.

10 years of bird control at Cardiff Airport.

For a decade, Cardiff Airport has relied on AVIX laser technology to manage bird activity—from gulls and rooks to ravens, jackdaws, crows, and geese.

And right now, as autumn migration gets underway across the Northern Hemisphere, bird movements are changing again. September is a key period for migration, with many species moving south and waterfowl beginning to arrive in greater numbers.

But for airports, bird control isn't seasonal — it's an ongoing operational priority.

Bird strikes have been part of aviation for more than a century, and they remain a challenge for airports around the world.

Most strikes happen close to the ground, especially during takeoff and landing, with activity increasing during busy migration periods. That is why airports manage bird presence year-round through monitoring, habitat management, and active deterrence.

AVIX laser technology supports a safe, non-lethal approach to keeping birds away from sensitive aviation areas.

Short grass, open water, and plenty of space can make commercial properties surprisingly attractive to Canada geese.

But because they are protected under U.S. federal law, managing them requires the right approach.

Prevention and humane deterrence matter.

AVIX Autonomic helps discourage Canada geese from settling in sensitive areas using automated, non-lethal laser technology.

W**e grape season has arrived across the Northern Hemisphere—and with it, one of the biggest challenges of the growing season: protecting ripening grapes from birds.

At Talbott Vineyard in California’s Santa Lucia Highlands, Gallo could have turned to traditional methods like netting or chemical repellents. Instead, they chose a solution that aligned with their long-standing commitment to sustainable farming.

They installed 13 solar-powered AVIX Autonomic laser systems to protect the vineyard without chemicals or harm to birds—and without drawing additional power from the grid.

The result? A non-lethal deterrent that works with birds’ natural behavior, helping protect the harvest while leaving the surrounding ecosystem undisturbed.

The project is featured on page 30 of Gallo’s Sustainability Impact Report—a small example of how nearly a century of environmental commitment can translate into practical choices in the field.
