The prairie borders are carefully composed based on flower colour and height. The planting consists of a mix of ornamental grasses, strong perennials and flower bulbs. This clever combination means the garden blooms almost all year round, which ensures a continuous spectacle of colour and structure. This sustainable and low-maintenance planting structure contributes to a lively landscape that is constantly renewing itself.

Behind the house stretches an impressive prairie garden. This garden forms a striking contrast with the surrounding meadows and lawns. The flowering plant borders, combined with playful semi-hardened paths, give the garden a dynamic character. This prairie garden is not only a feast for the eyes, but also provides a lively spectacle in the line of sight from the house to the meadows behind it.

This newly built house in the countryside of Loo has a design that fully matches the architecture of the house. The area around the house is designed as a prairie garden, with large lawns, pastures for small livestock, and generous planting areas. This creates a harmonious and natural whole. The long driveway leads to a traditional courtyard, covered with natural stone boulders. Large, pollarded plane trees have been planted here, which provides a robust and classic image. This courtyard forms a quiet and inviting entrance area, which fits in perfectly with the rural surroundings of the house.

In addition, we have smoothly extended an existing path through the entire backyard. This path follows the natural slopes of the terrain, allowing the natural beauty to come into its own. To give the garden a sense of space and privacy, we have widened the path at strategic points. This created places where you can retreat, alone or in small groups. When designing the garden, we carefully considered the solitary trees that were already present on the terrain. These trees have been integrated into the overall appearance of the garden in a thoughtful way. This resulted in a harmonious whole that fits perfectly with the unique location of the garden.

An important part of the design was the integration of the existing swimming pool. By adding a wide staircase, the swimming pool was connected to the higher terrace on the entrance side of the house. This created a place where you can find a pleasant seat at any time of the day. This clever layout makes it possible to fully enjoy the garden, regardless of the time.

Back to nature. The unique location of this villa garden in Noordwijk, on the inner edge of the dunes, gives the garden its special character. However, a lot of work had to be done before this result was achieved. The previous residents had developed a more traditional garden, despite the challenging location on the coast. As a result, the characteristic dune atmosphere had slowly faded into the background. Our approach was aimed at restoring that original, characteristic atmosphere. We did not only want to bring this atmosphere to the front door, but to let it be felt as a guiding theme throughout the entire garden. This resulted in a garden that feels both casual and natural, with the dune atmosphere as a common thread.

The enclosed character of the tropical city garden The Hague creates a unique microclimate. This makes it possible to extend the tropical plants from the greenhouse to the patio. The facade of the opposite storage room has an African print, which completes the atmosphere.

The back wall of the greenhouse is transformed into a green vegetation wall. This concept is also applied in the living room, where a smaller version of the vegetation wall can be found. This creates a seamless connection between the living room and the greenhouse, especially when the large metal sliding doors are fully opened. The greenhouse is not only aesthetic, but also functional. A wide gas fireplace ensures that the greenhouse can be used all year round. This fireplace is integrated into a structural wall that continues outside the greenhouse as a planter. This creates a soft transition from inside to outside, which makes the whole thing even more atmospheric.

After a long time abroad, the client returns to the Netherlands. This time to the relatively cold climate, compared to the tropics. The choice falls on a characterful house in the center of The Hague. This house, a former post office, has a city patio that is surrounded by multi-layered buildings. Unfortunately, the atmosphere in the patio is lacking, except for a single palm tree. The large temperature difference between the tropics and the Netherlands inspires the client to transform part of the patio into an extra living space. A measure made greenhouse is chosen, which covers a third of the patio. This greenhouse offers a light and warm space, reminiscent of the tropics.
