[Project No.154 Het Dok] Three towers, a facade built on repetition, and hundreds of individual balconies. We made Het Dok to match the building's ambition.
Located on the former NDSM shipyard in Amsterdam-Noord, Het Dok is a residential complex of 449 apartments in three towers above a shared low-rise base. Designed by de Architekten Cie, the building's facades are structured by a concrete grid, giving it a sturdy urban character above a 150 metre transparent plinth.
The concrete grid is rendered in precise grey profiles, with warm veneer panels behind communicating the inhabited depth of each floor. Each balcony is individually assembled, row after row across all three towers. The base is cast in Jesmonite, giving the ground plane the raw, textured quality of the industrial site.
