Colour Field wins Marmomac’s 2026 Stone GameChanger Award

What happens when discarded stone takes centre stage in a public space?

For the London Festival of Architecture, Objects of Common Interest and SolidNature created Colour Field, transforming Principal Place in Shoreditch with offcuts of surplus marble, travertine and quartzite from SolidNature projects around the world.

Reworked into striking geometric shapes, the stone was given a new lease of life, offering visitors a fresh perspective on its colour, texture and natural beauty. Ultimately, this installation won the Stone GameChanger Award for challenging and expanding our perceptions of natural stone.

Commissioned by Brookfield Properties and co-curated by Alter Projects, Colour Field shows how natural stone can be reimagined as a contemporary material.

Every collection starts with a choice.
This one started on the quarry floor, standing before walls tens of metres high, deciding which stones would travel.
Colour that shifts with the light. Veins that move like water. Surfaces no one has seen before.
Our Brazilian collection is about to grow. The new stones arrive in the warehouse this month.
Chosen in person, at the source. Sourced by us.

Arched into doorways. Curved around a bar. Wrapped into a kitchen island. Framed around a fireplace. Shaped into a door handle.
Same stone, same veining, endless characters.

One residence, seven different stones, each doing something different.
A home that plays with color, texture and material, without ever losing its balance.
Stone as a wall that glows from within. Stone as a table you want to run your hands over. Stone as a floor that shifts character from room to room, yet still feels like one story.
Wherever it’s used, it takes the shape the space asks for.

The candle holders designed by Sabine Marcelis for the Amsterdam Fashion Week opening dinner are now available as a limited edition.
Two sizes, two natural stones, 100 pieces each. Numbered, never reissued.

A private residence, where Shahan Dark Marble shapes the kitchen island, countertop and open sink wall. On top of it sits SolidSkin, a protective layer against stains that stays completely invisible.
