WHY DO SOME ENGINEERS PLACE A PLASTIC SHEET UNDER FOUNDATION TRENCHES? 🤔

A plastic sheet beneath a foundation trench is not used on every project, but under the right soil and site conditions it can play an important role.

It may help:

✅ Reduce moisture loss from fresh concrete.
✅ Minimize contamination from surrounding soil.
✅ Improve concrete curing.
✅ Provide a cleaner casting surface.
✅ Support better concrete quality in suitable conditions.

However, it is not a universal requirement. Whether to use it depends on the soil conditions, groundwater, and the project's engineering design.

📌 Always follow the structural engineer's specifications instead of copying what you see on another site.
