Personally, before embarking on any projects, I try as much as I can to make sure my client design is far more Aesthetically Pleasing and functional more than every other designs within the site location,
It's must be a Land Mark in that vicinity with distinct features.
So Personally, Excellent Design Outcomes as An Architect requires;
Site Visitation,
Take Accurate Measurements,
Meditations (very important),
Research (on site physical case studies if possible),
Sketch,
Ask for detailed criticism from senior colleagues,
Sketch again,
Get good sleep,
Envision the space used by any character of humans and make sure it's suit and giving them maximum comfort needed,
And give the design your best shot.
