If you want peace, stop putting your happiness in other people’s hands. The best way to avoid disappointment is to stop expecting people to show up, care, or understand the way you do. People will be human. They’ll forget, they’ll change, they’ll choose themselves sometimes. That’s not always cruelty that’s just life. So expect less. Hope for the best, but don’t depend on it. Do good because your heart is good, not because you’re waiting for the same energy back. When you expect nothing, every little kindness feels like a blessing.
