MY 2025 REPORT CARD 🎓

A few days ago, I was officially inducted as a Registered Builder in Nigeria. After months of rigorous processing, I am now licensed to practice. You can officially call me a Builder! 🏗️

I am incredibly grateful for how this year has unfolded. By the grace of God:

1. 🏆 Closed a deal on a high-end luxury property.

2. 🏗️ Managed multiple construction projects, ranging from small to large-scale, with a combined value in the millions of dollars.

3. 📐 Facilitated several architectural drawings and building approval processes.

4. 🚗 Engineered the systems, structure, and operational principles for a car brand.

5. 🤝 Launched a new business partnership—stay tuned for what’s coming!

6. 🎓 Mastered a new skill and completed a professional qualification program.

7. 🛋️ Mentored a select group of people in my circle on interior design.

8. 🎥 Kicked off a video content series. I’ve missed creating, but I’m making a comeback!

To my friends, family, and colleagues: thank you for bearing with me and my ambitious spirit. I am grateful to everyone who has been part of this journey.

The Road Ahead:

In the coming year, my focus shifts to scaling my business ventures. Two years ago, I was eager to start my own firm, but when the opportunity arose to learn “the better way” to build, I chose to bury my head in the work and learn.

Today, I can confidently say I have built the capacity. I am ready. If you have any construction needs, now is the time to reach out. Because I AM READY!!! 🚀

The key takeaway for me is simple:
No matter how close you are to anyone, when it comes to business, make sure every term is clear before ex*****on.

Familiarity in business is a time bomb waiting to explode.

I’m sure these pictures don’t fully capture all the endeavors I’ve been on since the last time I was here. But the summary of everything is that I’m happy to be doing what I love, and I’m glad my current conditions and challenges are helping me drive my growth and the people around me.

I’m grateful to God for keeping everything running smoothly.

While I catch you on my next life update, you already know I speak a lot in the background of businesses in construction and other endeavors, and I’m still not too busy to render all my services when you need them.

Building Confidence Through Knowledge

As someone who’s experienced various stages of construction, from frame structure to detailed interior arrangement, I’ve gained the confidence to hold my own in conversations and meetings. I’ve stood up to consultants and contractors, advocating for achievable goals and declining requests that don’t meet my employer’s standards.

When I speak, people listen. And I speak with confidence on what I know. Recently, I took a step further by pursuing professional accreditation in Nigeria. While there, I stumbled upon some insightful books, particularly one on Facility Management. This aspect of construction I haven’t really experienced, so I decided to dive in and expand my skills.

A well-designed building should prioritize maintainability and optimization. If not, it can become a liability.

As a builder, I prepare buildability and maintainability documents for every project. But I’m excited to learn more about Facility Management to better serve my clients.

The Challenge of Building a Trusted Project Team

Been a minute, but today I want to talk about a pandemic in the construction sector which is finding a trusted project team with character and precision. In my close to a decade experience in construction, I can categorically tell you that we lack enough meticulous and trusted artisans in Nigeria. And this is getting bad every day.

We have artisans that always blame others for their errors, don’t want to work to optimum precision, don’t like to use PPE, can disappoint you anytime, and argue with you whenever you ask them to do something differently. The list goes on.

As professionals, let’s treat them well, respect their inputs, and compensate them fairly. I believe that one day, I’ll take it upon myself to train more artisans.

A Quick Story

Seven years ago, I founded a WhatsApp community focused on career development, motivation, and relationships. It rapidly grew to over 10,000 members. At the time, I was one of the pioneers of WhatsApp TV, but I utilized mine for a noble cause. We provided numerous resources and assistance to our members free of charge.

However, managing the community began to consume a significant amount of time for my team and me. As our careers demanded more attention, we gradually phased out the community. Although it’s no longer active, I believe we’ll revive it in the future.

But here is the main story I said I wanted to share.

This story is about the development of people and genuinely caring for them, regardless of their background or circumstances. For instance, when I embarked on a project in Abuja, I worked with a team of individuals doing menial jobs for my artisans. They were struggling to make ends meet. Despite their challenging situation, I encouraged them to pursue their goals and aspirations.

I shared my personal experiences with them, including how I funded my education through the same hard work they are currently doing and how I worked throughout my undergraduate journey. I urged those who wished to further their education to take the leap.

Moreover, I emphasized the importance of learning and mastering the craft, ensuring they would be equipped to handle projects independently.

Today, I’m delighted to see that many of them have acquired valuable skills, making it easier for me to entrust them with projects.

I firmly believe in the power of skill development as the ultimate career security. It is best career security you can have or give anyone.

On a personal note, I miss utilizing my writing skills and hope to create more time for it soon.
