🏠At DBM Residence, the staircase transcends its functional role, operating as a soaring, sculptural centerpiece that anchors the home’s double-height volume. The design is a masterful orchestration of light, transparency, and materiality, seamlessly weaving together the structural rigor of architecture with the fluid elements of nature and music.
​The staircase itself features a striking combination of warm timber treads supported by a robust, dark structural spine. The open-riser design maintains an uninterrupted sense of visual openness, a quality further enhanced by the seamless glass balustrades that allow sightlines to pass through effortlessly. Adding a layer of modern luxury, integrated under-tread lighting casts a soft, ambient glow downward, tracing the geometric rhythm of the ascent and making the heavy timber forms appear weightless at night.
​Suspended within the heart of the stairwell void, a dramatic cascade of helical, sculptural pendant lights acts as a luminous anchor. These fixtures fall vertically like a frozen waterfall of light, drawing the eye upward and contrasting beautifully with the clean, horizontal lines of the steps.
​This architectural composition is grounded by a polished marble floor with delicate veining, which serves as a canvas for the elements above. Nestled elegantly in the under-stair alcove is a grand piano, transforming a traditionally underutilized space into an intimate cultural vignette. Behind the piano, an integrated indoor garden of lush greenery brings organic softness into the interior, establishing a dialogue with the expansive, black-framed grid windows. These towering apertures frame views of the external landscape, blurring the boundary between the curated interior world and the vibrant nature outside.
