VELD FIRE AWARENESS – LET’S PREVENT FIRES TOGETHER

It is fire season, and with grasses and bushes dry across Namibia, the risk of veld fires is extremely high. Veld fires threaten our land, livelihoods, biodiversity, and the growth of Namibia’s biomass industry.

As leaders in the biomass sector, we urge all Namibians to play their part in preventing and controlling veld fires. Together, we can make a difference!

Simple steps to prevent fires:
Never leave fires unattended. Always supervise and extinguish them completely.
Dispose of ci******es and matches responsibly. Never throw them into dry or flammable areas.
Follow fire bans and restrictions to help protect communities and the environment.
Clear dry grass, leaves and debris around homes, farms and other vulnerable areas.
Report any suspicious smoke or fire immediately to the relevant authorities.
Educate your family, employees and community about fire prevention and safety.

Let’s stand united in protecting Namibia’s land, livelihoods and natural resources. Every action counts!

More impactful moments from day 1 🍃

Mr. Johnson Ndokosho, Director of Forestry at the Ministry of Environment, Forestry and Tourism (MEFT), ran us through the regulatory framework which underpins operations and commercial viability in the biomass sector.

His message was firm: staying within the law protects both the industry and its opportunities. Operating outside compliance doesn't just risk penalties, it can mean losing access to critical markets.
