We would like to thank the Swakopmund Municipality for the opportunity to have been involved in the new Swakopmund Entrance sign coming from Walvis Bay.

The concept was created by the very talented Reischauer-Buchert. We were honoured to bring her concept to life and create an architectural landmark for locals and tourists alike.

Initially, the sign was intended to face the other way, as logic dictates that you are greeted in the direction of the town.

However, the beautiful backdrop towards the other side looking towards the Swakop riverbed became the perfect canvas for the backdrop. (Moreover, the other side is permanently in the shade). There was no point of resisting the beauty that comes together precisely at that spot - palm trees, camels, dunes & an ocean backdrop - the real "Center of Adventure". Nature triumphs over logic ☀🫶

So, "Welcome to" on both sides lets us welcome tourists and locals alike - we encourage you to interact with the sign, take mandatory selfies and breathe in the beauty of our town Swakopmund 💛🐪🌴🌊
