"𝐈𝐟 𝐢𝐭'𝐬 𝐫𝐮𝐧𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠, 𝐢𝐭'𝐬 𝐞𝐟𝐟𝐢𝐜𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐭. 𝐍𝐨 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐛𝐥𝐞𝐦."

We commonly hear this but did you know it is one of the most expensive myths in manufacturing?

⚡A machine can run perfectly fine while silently eating 10–30% of your energy. It doesn't trip or triggers an alarm but just runs wastefully.

⚠️The worst part is you don't see it on the energy bill AND still pay for it!

So, a question for ALL plant managers and engineers:

𝐖𝐇𝐄𝐍 𝐰𝐚𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐥𝐚𝐬𝐭 𝐭𝐢𝐦𝐞 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐮𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐲 𝐦𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐮𝐫𝐞𝐝 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐩𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐭'𝐬 𝐩𝐨𝐰𝐞𝐫 𝐪𝐮𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲, 𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐣𝐮𝐬𝐭 𝐢𝐭𝐬 𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐠𝐲 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐮𝐦𝐩𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧?

Our Deep Dive into Energy Efficiency session this October was a great success!

We're grateful to every manufacturer, factory director, plant manager, facility manager, and engineer who took the time to be with us.

Rising energy costs continue to challenge manufacturers. But improving energy efficiency is reducing electricity bills, identifying hidden losses, enhancing operational performance, and making informed engineering decisions that deliver lasting results.

During the session, we shared practical insights to help facilities:
✅ Improve energy efficiency
✅ Reduce unnecessary energy costs
✅ Strengthen overall operational performance

To everyone who attended, Thank you for your engagement, your questions, and your commitment to making your operations more efficient!

Stay tuned for our upcoming sessions 🔥🙌

Protection relay calibration should not be viewed simply as another maintenance task.

Its purpose is to verify that the relay will respond accurately when abnormal conditions occur.

A properly calibrated relay helps ensure:
✓ Correct pickup response
✓ Accurate trip timing
✓ Reliable protection performance
✓ Greater confidence in critical electrical assets

For industrial facilities, protection reliability is not something to assume — it should be verified.

PQE Power System provides professional protection relay calibration and testing across Klang Valley and Malaysia.

✅❓🔥 Power factor (PF) looks good. So why is your capacitor bank still running hot?

Achieving the target PF does not always mean the capacitor bank is operating within its intended electrical and thermal limits. In an electrical system with significant harmonics, capacitors can absorb harmonic currents in addition to their intended fundamental-frequency current.

The result can be:
▪️ Higher capacitor current
▪️ Increased internal temperature
▪️ Accelerated dielectric ageing
▪️ Shorter component lifespan
▪️ Greater risk of premature failure

And there may be another concern: resonance.

Under certain conditions, the interaction between the capacitor bank and network impedance can amplify specific harmonic frequencies and lead to an increase of electrical and thermal stress! This is why reactive power compensation should not be evaluated only by PF.

"A reliable capacitor bank requires consideration of the complete electrical environment; including power factor, harmonics, resonance conditions and thermal loading."

🔍 Good PF doesn't always mean a healthy capacitor bank. Look beyond the number.

🔍 Attention to all industry professionals!

Under the Malaysia Electrical Regulations 1994 (Clause 110), non-domestic electrical installations must be inspected and tested at least every 5 years —while protective relays and devices must be checked, tested, and calibrated every 2 years by a competent person.

Do more than meet regulations—ensure your protection system is truly reliable:
* Prevent failures & costly downtime
* Safeguard equipment and human lives
* Maintain smooth, efficient plant operations

🌟🌟🌟 Planned & regular protection relay calibration is a smart operational strategy.

✉️ Reach out to us ( [email protected] ) or drop a comment to schedule your relay calibration with us this year!

Thank you for making "Mastering Power Quality in Solar PV Systems" a success! ☀️

Due to the overwhelming response, we hosted two knowledge-sharing sessions — morning and afternoon — at Oasis Square, Ara Damansara, Petaling Jaya.

Here’s what we explored:
🔸 Power quality can directly impacts solar PV performance.
🔸 Hidden inefficiencies and energy losses can often go unnoticed.
🔸 The right monitoring tools can reveal issues what standard monitoring may miss.
🔸 Value goes beyond installation. Performance is your differentiator.

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us. Your questions and insights made both sessions truly valuable.

Because of the amazing response, we're looking forward to bringing more practical knowledge-sharing sessions to the industry. Stay tuned!

Are Hidden Electrical Inefficiencies Quietly Increasing Your Operating Costs?

Not all energy losses are visible in your utility bills or production reports.

Inefficient electrical systems, power quality issues, unnecessary energy consumption, and poor system performance can quietly increase operating costs — often without an obvious warning.

The challenge is knowing where the inefficiencies are, what is causing them, and how much they are really costing your facility.

Join us for a practical knowledge-sharing session as we take a deep dive into energy efficiency, exploring how industrial facilities can identify hidden inefficiencies, understand their impact, and improve overall energy performance.

When was your protection system last properly verified?

Relay testing should provide more than a completed checklist.
It should give you confidence that your protection relay:
✓ Responds at the correct pickup level
✓ Operates within the expected time
✓ Follows its intended characteristic
✓ Performs consistently across the tested conditions

If your next relay testing or calibration is due, PQE Power System can help.

A capacitor bank trip doesn't always mean the protection relay is the problem.

When a capacitor bank is switched into an electrical system, it can introduce high inrush currents and transient conditions. In systems with harmonic distortion, the interaction can become more complicated.

When protection operates, the important question is:

What caused the protection to respond?

It could point to issues such as:
▪️ Switching inrush
▪️ Harmonic interaction
▪️ Resonance conditions
▪️ Capacitor bank condition
▪️ Protection settings or coordination

Simply resetting the relay or increasing the protection setting may not address the underlying issue.

The right approach is to understand the electrical behaviour first — then determine the appropriate solution.

At PQE, we look beyond the trip itself to assess the relationship between reactive power compensation, power quality and protection.
