Design may begin with creativity, but professional practice depends on clear rights, responsibilities and agreements.
This session explores how law can serve not only as a means of resolving disputes, but as a practical tool to protect architects and designers, safeguard intellectual property, define scope, secure fair payment and establish professional boundaries.
Drawing from more than four decades of industry experience and F-IND’s advocacy for fair creative practices and professional sustainability, IDr. Dr. Ed Mun will discuss real-world issues including free pitching, unpaid design work, scope creep, ownership of ideas, contractual clarity, client expectations and professional responsibility. These concerns are closely aligned with F-IND’s wider focus on preparing future creatives for the commercial realities of practice.
Ultimately, the session challenges future architects and designers to see legal knowledge not simply as something needed when things go wrong, but as an essential part of protecting creative value, practising professionally and building a sustainable industry.
