What happens when your child is about to start primary school… but the bedroom is running out of space? 👀

For this project at The Tamarind, Penang, our returning client wanted to transform their child’s bedroom into a space that could support the next stage of growing up — not just sleeping, but also studying, storing school items and staying organised.

Instead of filling the room with more loose furniture, we planned everything as one integrated custom solution.

✨ Tatami-Style Platform Bed
Built-in drawers underneath turn otherwise unused space below the mattress into practical storage for bedding, toys, books and everyday belongings.

📚 Proper Study Area
A custom study desk gives the child a dedicated space for reading, homework and future schoolwork, with drawers and surrounding cabinetry to keep things organised.

🗄️ More Storage Without Crowding the Room
Full-height wardrobes and overhead cabinets make better use of vertical space, helping us increase storage while preserving valuable floor area.

💡 Open Display + Warm Lighting
Selected open shelves prevent the cabinetry from feeling too heavy, while integrated lighting creates a warmer and more comfortable bedroom atmosphere.

🌿 Designed to Grow With the Child
Rather than making the room overly “kids-themed”, we used warm wood tones, light neutral finishes and a contemporary design direction that can remain suitable as the child grows.

The cabinetry was custom-built using a combination of solid plywood, HPL and Super E0 melamine panels, with materials selected according to the function and requirements of each component.

The result?

One bedroom that brings together:

✔ Sleeping
✔ Studying
✔ Clothing storage
✔ Books & school materials
✔ Everyday organisation

— all within one coordinated space.

At Kitchen Story, we believe custom cabinetry isn’t simply about adding more cabinets.

It’s about understanding how the family will actually use the space, then designing around their daily routine.

Can you upgrade your parents’ bedroom without putting them through weeks of dust, drilling and disruption?

For this Minden Heights, Penang project, that was exactly what our client was worried about.

Her elderly parents were still living in the house, so the goal wasn’t just to create a beautiful bedroom.

It had to be comfortable, practical — and installed with as little disruption as possible.

The result? The custom cabinetry installation was completed on-site in just 2 days. 🏡✨

Here’s what we designed around their everyday needs:

✨ More storage, without making the room feel heavy

A full-height, handleless TV and storage wall gives the family more space for clothing, linens and personal belongings while maintaining a clean, uncluttered look.

✨ A dressing area designed for daily comfort

The integrated vanity includes practical drawer storage together with warm vertical lighting, making everyday routines easier while adding a soft ambient glow to the bedroom.

✨ Calm, timeless colours

Rather than using overly decorative details, we combined matte beige tones with warm wood-grain finishes to create a bedroom that feels peaceful, warm and refined.

✨ Materials selected for long-term use

For this project, plywood cabinet carcasses were paired with Lamitak HPL finishes to achieve the durability, appearance and easy-maintenance requirements of the space.

✨ Why was the installation so fast?

The cabinetry wasn’t being built from scratch inside the home.

Each module was precision-prepared and pre-assembled through our factory production process before arriving on site.

That allowed our installation team to focus on fitting, alignment, finishing and cleanup — significantly reducing the amount of work carried out inside the occupied home.

For families renovating a home where parents are still staying, good planning can make a big difference to how disruptive the renovation feels.

Thinking about improving your parents’ bedroom, wardrobe or living area?

📩 Send Kitchen Story a message with your floor plan or a few photos of the existing space, and our team can help you understand the suitable next step.

And we’re curious: if you were upgrading your parents’ bedroom, what would matter most — better storage, easier accessibility or a more comfortable atmosphere?

TE Connectivity | Corporate Office Interior Design & Fit-Out

A corporate office should communicate who the company is before a single conversation begins.

For this TE Connectivity office project, we developed the reception and surrounding corporate spaces around one key objective: translate the brand identity into a professional, welcoming and memorable physical environment.

The design combines TE Connectivity’s distinctive corporate orange with warm timber finishes, clean architectural lines and light-toned surfaces to create a workspace that feels contemporary without becoming overly corporate.

🧡 Reception & Brand Wall
The signature orange feature wall creates an immediate visual connection with the TE Connectivity brand, complemented by a clean reception counter combining marble-look and timber finishes.

🤎 Waiting & Lounge Area
Warm neutral furniture, timber elements and softer textures create a more comfortable environment for visitors while maintaining the professional character of the office.

💡 Corporate Culture Wall
Rather than treating company information as simple wall graphics, the corporate story, visual media and display elements are integrated into the interior architecture—allowing employees and visitors to experience the company's identity throughout the space.

📺 Corporate Display & Communication Areas
Digital displays and branded content are incorporated into key visitor areas, turning otherwise functional walls into active communication points.

Good commercial interior design is not only about making an office look better. It should support brand recognition, visitor experience, employee environment and the way a company presents itself to clients and business partners.

Warm tones. Soft curves. Custom made for everyday living.

Here’s a closer look at our recently completed project at Savana Residence, Batu Kawan, Penang.

For this home, we kept the design language warm and consistent combining soft beige, natural woodgrain, slim black-framed glass and curved detailing across the different spaces.

🏡 Project Highlights

Kitchen Cabinet
E0 melamine carcass with ABS edging, paired with solid plywood doors and panels finished in E-Porch colour core HPL. The combination of solid beige, natural woodgrain and a sintered stone countertop creates a clean, warm contemporary kitchen.

Custom Wardrobe
GM Glass doors with ultra-slim black powder-coated aluminium frames create a refined contrast against the softer bedroom palette, complemented by integrated lighting.

Study Area
Custom-built cabinetry with curved doors and panels helps soften sharp edges while creating a more seamless transition around the workspace.

Shoe Cabinet
Integrated entrance storage continues the same beige and natural woodgrain material language used throughout the home.

Reverse-Arch Partition
One of our favourite details. A custom reverse-arch feature finished in E-Porch colour core HPL and paired with wavy glass, providing a degree of privacy while still allowing light through.

The idea was simple: each area should have its own function, but the whole home should still feel connected.

That’s why the same colours, textures, curves and material details are repeated throughout the residence creating continuity from one space to another.

A repeat client’s third home with Kitchen Story.

This kitchen cabinet renovation was completed at Lucerne Residences, Bayan Lepas, near Penang Airport.

The client wanted a clean, tidy and minimalist home, so we planned the kitchen with warm neutral tones, practical storage, durable surfaces and easy-to-maintain finishes.

For the kitchen, we used E0 melamine ABS carcass, solid plywood doors with Lamitak laminate, GM glass doors, sintered stone countertop and back panel, BLUM soft-closing drawer system and DTC soft-closing hinges.

The client also added a custom suspended TV cabinet, built with a solid plywood carcass for better strength and support.

This project is meaningful because it is the third house renovated by Kitchen Story Sdn. Bhd. for the same client. We appreciate the continued trust and are glad the client is happy with Doreen Goh’s service, advice and final result.

A custom project that challenged our team — and pushed our craftsmanship further.

Kitchen Story Sdn. Bhd. recently completed a custom 3D sports shoe signage for a commercial retail space. This was not a standard cabinetry or renovation request, but a unique custom fabrication project that required careful planning, detailing, finishing and installation.

When the client asked whether we could deliver it, our answer was clear: we would study it, plan it properly and execute it professionally.

The final result was successfully completed, and we are glad that the client was highly satisfied with the outcome.

This project reflects our ability to support commercial renovation, shoplot fit-out, custom fabrication and feature display works in Penang — especially for businesses looking for practical, creative and professionally executed solutions.

For commercial renovation, custom cabinetry, shoplot fit-out or unique feature display works, Kitchen Story is ready to explore the right solution for your space.
