The Silent Cut: Architectural Mimicry in the Alpine Landscape 🏔️🏗️
Located in a high-altitude environment, this refuge redefines the concept of architectural integration. Rather than an object placed upon the terrain, the project is a subtractive intervention: a horizontal slit in the slope that transforms dwelling into geology.
Design Strategy:
Landscape Continuity: The volume disappears beneath a continuous snow-covered roof, allowing the natural topography to flow without interruption.
Brutalist Materiality: The use of board-formed exposed concrete establishes a tactile dialogue with the surrounding rock, embracing natural weathering and the moisture of the extreme climate.
The Void: A deep-set longitudinal opening with triple glazing acts as a thermal diaphragm, offering panoramic views while maintaining the introspection of a bunker.
An exercise in essential minimalism, where thermal mass and the void unite to domesticate a hostile environment.
