Alton House. Greenwood Village, Colorado. 2026.
Part 2
Bringing light into the house was one of the primary objectives for this project. The front porch was incorporated into the interior living space and replaced with floor-to-ceiling windows. Expansive glass in both the front and back provides a more grounded experience, allowing residents to fully enjoy the site from all angles, connecting them with nature.
These strategically placed windows work alongside the landscape: the front tree naturally cools the house during summer while allowing passive solar heat in the winter. Below, the basement is illuminated by a glass floor from the main level, paired with oversized windows and window wells. This eliminates the traditional underground feel, transforming a once-dark environment into a space full of light and life.
