A pool cover can be very useful in a windy garden or during a lower-use period. It can reduce leaves and dust entering the water and make the next cleanup easier. But covering a pool does not pause the water underneath.

Circulation, filtration and water balance still need attention. Debris should not be left sitting on the cover, and rainwater should not be allowed to create unsafe weight or dirty runoff. Before uncovering, check what has collected on top so it does not fall straight into the pool.
