La mĂ©tĂ©o nous rĂ©serve bien des surprises, et malheureusement, elle n’a pas Ă©tĂ© clĂ©mente cette semaine pour cette superbe Ă©quipe venue de France avec Anthony, Didier, Seb et T**i (Laurent). Le trip de 82h sur le banc de l’Est prĂ©vu s’est terminĂ© en 2 trips de 34h autour de l’üle.
Notre Ă©quipe a tout de mĂȘme pu tirer leur Ă©pingle du jeu en jigging et pĂȘche a l’appĂąt. De belles carangues ignobilis (GT), mĂ©rous babones, gros poissons poulets, thons Ă  dents de chien sont venus rĂ©compenser leur persĂ©vĂ©rance. D’autres gros combats se sont achevĂ©s soient en casse au fond, mais pour la majoritĂ© coupĂ©s / mangĂ©s par nos taxmans omniprĂ©sents ces derniers temps.
Les wahoos et thons jaunes sont assez mĂ©fiants en pĂȘche Ă  la traine tandis que 2 voiliers (pas assez gourmands) sont venus jouer dans les leurres. Des conditions de pĂȘche difficiles donc mais avec une certitude de revenir pour en dĂ©coudre davantage !
The weather has plenty of surprises in store, and unfortunately, it hasn’t been kind this week to this superb team from France – Anthony, Didier, Seb and T**i (Laurent). The planned 82-hour trip to the Eastern Bank ended up as two 34-hour trips around the island.
Our team still managed to make the best of things with jigging and baiting. Fine GTs (Caranx ignobilis), baboon groupers, large jobfish and dogtooth tuna rewarded their perseverance. Other big fights ended either with the line snapping on the seabed, but for the most part the fish were cut off or eaten by our ever-present taxmen of late.
Wahoos and yellowfin tuna were rather wary of the trolling lures, whilst two sailfish (not quite hungry enough) came to play with the lures. Difficult fishing conditions, then, but with the certainty that we’ll be back for more!

Et c’est parti pour cette superbe Ă©quipe du BGFCF avec Marc, Philippe et Corinne pour 2 trips sur le banc de l’Est et autour de Rodrigues. Les conditions mĂ©tĂ©o sont excellentes tout comme l’activitĂ© en jigging et appĂąt permettant de comptabiliser prĂšs de 24 espĂšces diffĂ©rentes : des thons Ă  dents de chien, carangues ignobilis, bleues, ponts jaunes, mĂ©rous babones, carpes rouges, poissons poulets ou autres coureurs arc en ciel ont fait le bonheur de nos pĂ©cheurs. La pĂȘche a la traine a, quant Ă  elle, bien repris avec de nombreux beaux wahoos et thons jaunes ainsi qu’un voilier dĂ©crochĂ©. De gros poissons perdus par casses et surtout par les requins n’ont pas effleurĂ© le moral de l'Ă©quipe. Un grand bravo pour votre persĂ©vĂ©rance et fair play!
And off we go with this fantastic BGFCF team—Marc, Philippe, and Corinne—for two trips to the Eastern Bank and around Rodrigues. Weather conditions are excellent, as is the action with jigging and baiting, resulting in nearly 24 different species: dogtooth tuna, ignobilis trevally, blue trevally, yellowtail trevally, red corail trouts, red snapper, jobfish, and rainbow runner have delighted our anglers. Trolling, meanwhile, has picked up nicely with many fine wahoo and yellowfin tuna, as well as a lost sailfish. Large fish lost due to broken lines and, above all, to sharks did not dampen the team’s spirits. A big congratulations on your perseverance and sportsmanship!

Encore un peu de re**rd dans mes publications ! Cette troisiĂšme et derniĂšre session de pĂȘche de 82h autour de Rodrigues, menĂ©e dans d'excellentes conditions mĂ©tĂ©o avec Michel et neveu / ami de la RĂ©union, a Ă©tĂ© marquĂ©e par une activitĂ© exceptionnelle en slow jigging et appĂąt, malgrĂ© une activitĂ© discrĂšte en surface. Comme les 2 premiers trips, l'essentiel des rĂ©sultats s'est concentrĂ© sur les pĂȘches verticales (jigging, slow jigging et appĂąts), permettant de comptabiliser plus de 20 espĂšces diffĂ©rentes : de thons Ă  dents de chien, carangues ignobilis, bleues, ponts jaunes, mĂ©rous babones et autres grosses carpes rouges ont fait le bonheur de nos guerriers. Malheureusement, des rushs et casses mĂ©morables n’ont pas entamĂ© le moral de l'Ă©quipe et la densitĂ© des touches ont fait de ce dernier trip, plus de souvenirs que de rĂȘves !
I'm a little behind on my posts again! This third and final 82-hour fishing trip around Rodrigues, undertaken in excellent weather conditions with Michel and his nephew/friend from RĂ©union, was marked by exceptional action with slow jigging and bait, despite a quiet surface bite. As with the first two trips, the bulk of the catch came from vertical fishing (jigging, slow jigging and bait fishing), resulting in over 20 different species: dogtooth tuna, ignobilis trevally, blufin, yellow spotted, red corail trout grouper and other large red snappers delighted our warriors. Unfortunately, some memorable runs and lost fish did not dampen the team’s spirits, and the sheer number of bites made this final trip more of a memory than a dream!
